Lawyer and Human Rights activist, Prof Chidi Anselm Odinkalu has reacted after seeing that the total amount the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Gregory Obi spent as legal fee in his electoral expenses was N744,500,000.

According to PUNCH, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party spent a whooping sum N744,500,000 on litigation following his loss in the 2023 presidential election.

The information was disclosed by the Chairman of the fundraising team for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Aisha Yesufu at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Reacting to the report, Prof Chidi Anselm Odinkalu said it is surprising that the biggest single line item in the electoral expenses of Peter Obi is not media or polling agents but legal expenses.

He wrote on his page;

"Revealing - isn't it - that the biggest single line item in the electoral expenses of Peter Obi is not media or polling agents but Legal expenses? It's a consequence of the mess that lawyers & judges have made of Nigeria's electoral system".

We want to see how much was needlessly claimed on expensive hotel rooms, expensive meals, transport to and from his base in Lagos, family planning for Aisha Yesufu, protestors fee at the Tribinal per person because I know all those jobless Obidients that went to stand in the hot sun with placards would have been given a stipend.
