Since food is getting very expensive, make everyone become farmer. If you are unemployed, try farming. Our forefathers were farmers , i do not know why many do not want to farm. Instead of building house and school, let us go back to farming. Buy tractor, hoes , cutlass, seeds , fertilizer or manure and farm the land. Fertile land plenty, one can grow corn, another group cassava, or so on. Agriculture should be big business by now. Not all areas are taken by bandits or kidnappers. |

DonBenny77:Nothing good come easy or cheap. Farming is way better than the vices that many youths are doing today. Everyone wants to be a governor or politicians or earn millions sitting on a desk as Oga. Meanwhile naira is falling, food is expensive. God has blessed Nigeria |

What we are experiencing is not food scarcity but inflation which has affected prices of all goods and not just food price alone. |

Usmanovic95:Rice is a major food diet then why is rice being imported? |

cooltola:Are you a farmer? |
| Re: Everyone Should Be A Farmer by OneCandleAway(f): 7:37pm On Feb 17, 2024 |
cooltola:We don't have comparative advantage in rice production |
| Re: Everyone Should Be A Farmer by cooltola(op): 7:47pm On Feb 17, 2024 |
OneCandleAway:Yet we can adapt, learn how to mass produce rice or starve because those who sells rice to Nigeria will always sell in their currency or dollar or Euro or Pounds. They do not care if 2000 naira is to a dollar as long they make their money |

cooltola:The frustration is when you're home sleeping and your farm is being harvested at night. The rate of stealing in this country is on another level. Unless it's a backyard farm setup |

cooltola:Garri is a locally produced staple food in Nigeria, atleast we all know it is not imported,so why is the price of garri skyrocketing on a daily basis? |
| Re: Everyone Should Be A Farmer by cooltola(op): 9:37pm On Feb 17, 2024 |
Usmanovic95:Because the demand for garri is more than the supply plus transport factor. Plus they are more mouth to feed. Every Nigerian should be encourage to be farm or encourage farmers. |

DonBenny77:Backguard farming is also welcome development. Stealing is not nothing new at all but people have device away to fence thieves. |

cooltola:The demand for garri has always been massive since the beginning of time.If it is about demand, garri should be the most expensive food. But the price has been very stable over the past years. But with the current inflation we are experiencing now,it has affected every price of everything. So what do you expect from farmers who also want to meet their basic needs as well? Definitely they will also have to hike up the price of their farm produce in other to meet those needs as well. If inflation rate is not control or regulate, everyone going Into farming will solve zilch of our already compounded problem as every other sector is also battling the same inflation. |
| Re: Everyone Should Be A Farmer by cooltola(op): 11:16pm On Feb 17, 2024 |
Usmanovic95:Well said, inflation can be managed when food is abundant.E.g when the naira fall for every bag of rice imported, so the price is up. If rice is produced abundantly in Nigeria there will be no need to import and the price will be descent. |
| Re: Everyone Should Be A Farmer by Usmanovic95(m): 11:35pm On Feb 17, 2024 |
cooltola:Right now in Nigeria, we don't have a shortage of food, for example, if you need a million bag of rice tomorrow, you will get it easily just that that you will have to pay above the odd price .I'm surprised you are limiting your views on food price alone. Today I bought a satchet of pure water for #50, I almost weep for our naira.Imagine our #50 been exchanged for a satchet water,is Nigeria a desert or a war zone? We are obviously seeing crystal clear the full effect of inflation. |

Usmanovic95:Sorry for the late reply , I have been busy, if food is plentiful, then food should be cheap according to economics but I understand other factors e.g transport is adding to food price going up. |
