Nigeria is not running common economics but Cabal economics, everything here is determined by the cabals in control and not any simple common economics

No need inviting the two greedy capitalists leveraging on high cost to feast on Nigerians. Just find a way of reducing the hardship. Things will naturally take proper shape. Inviting them is just like forcing or begging them.

do you know how much these companies spend in maintaining their diesel powered gen? Do dey have special market for their staff? Salary increment for staff due to economic downturn leads to all des increment u see. A govt that increased the price of petrol, an essential commodity from 160-600 can't blame private business for increasing theirs.

You've a point but that is not why cement should increase by a whooping 120% within a matter of weeks. Besides diesel and personnel costs are only a fraction of the price make up of a product that is made up of 90% locally sourced material. The price hike is just not justifiable.

Why meeting them? Does the government not knowing the implication of allowing a section of the country having a monopoly power over the supply of certain goods. They will collide to fixed the price. What government should do is issue licence to other investors from other region to come into the business, and even loan them, so that they can compete effectively with them, after all Dangote used government money to build his refinery according to former CNN governor. Also this is time for government not depend on his refinery to sustain energy sector, they should issue licence to other in petroleum industry and direct the cbn to make Dollar available for them to be able to build big refinery as they did to Dangote before he will bring government from other region down as they want to do to Tinubu government.

If tinubu doesn't know how to fix the ailing economy, he should just step down for the the military.its that simple cos they're not getting it. Those involved in dollar infractions are their allies so, it will be so difficult for him to arrest them.

They'd be the first to run into exile by the time the military tales over and their accounts would be frozen. You'd see how massively the naira would regain its strength.

Demand and supply will not do anything in this case. cost of production and also transportation has increased tremendously and you all expect price to remain the same. The truth you all know is Naira has lost its value at lease 3x over, which means N900 earlier last yesr is equal to N300 today. N900K is like N300K or less. and you also want cement to also reduce in monetary value. at the moment self i am sure cemenet made in Nigeria is the cheapest every in the world and Africa at the current rate of N10K. if you all Nigerians do not want to buy people in other countries will not allow Nigeria cement to rest.

Exactly my point!
The local producers of rice and cement have been over-pampered. Hence, they are taking advantage of the consumers.

You'd be surprised the imported cement will still sell below 5k despite the exchange rate.

It's economics of demand and supply that'll crash the price at depot.
Even if the government now starts to allow foreign cements, there are still many factors to consider: EX work or FOB cost(while minding the present FX rate) and freight charges. And even after this, you are still not sure that the foreign cement would be a cheaper alternative, as all it would take to make you regret your choice of going for foreign cement is to be slapped with a heavy Import duty when your consignment of foreign cement arrives at the port. Agent sef go come bill you for clearance and transportation to final destination, and now most truck drivers don increase their money too.

Na you go use your hand abandon the consignment for port. grin

The government needs to read the riot act to these cement boys. If importing cement is far cheaper than locally producing it, then the government may well call their bluff if they want to shut down. Compare the millions of artisans who would be left jobless because of the prohibitive prices of cement to the few thousands these cement manufacturers employ. Do the maths and see which is better.

Of course we don't want factories to shut down but if they become cogs in the nation's wheel of progress then they may pay the price.
I can assure you that the construction industry is right now comatose because of this cement price crisis. Think of the Engineers, plumbers, painters, carpenters, iron benders, aluminium artisans, unskilled labourers etc who are stranded at home with no means of income. This cement issue deserves the strongest direct response from the government without caring whose ox is gored!
bro , I can't help but admire your writing skills....is top notch
