In my view, we should go for prominence.

If you name it Kwara or Benue it lacks historical gravitas.

Nobody will know what it means.

But if you name it SONGHAI, the world will take notice. And know that we mean business, because they know that SONGHAI was the largest, most powerful empire in the history of West Africa.

Ghana that has ZERO to do with the mighty Ghana empire of old, went and STOLE THE NAME, and used it as an inspiration which fuelled their nationalism and pride, leading to greater patriotism there, more focused leadership, etc...

WE MUST DO LIKEWISE.

You MUST draw from your ancient history to develop real nationalism and pride which leads to progress and development.

It won't surprise me if the ancestors are working against us because we abandoned them to embrace the English, from religion to even the naming of our land, when we have so many great kingdoms and empires we can use to name ourselves.

Countries with indigenous names like Kenya, Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania etc all seem more serious and patriotic in the way they do things, with far less corruption and abuse of office.

It is our total political disconnectedness from the past that makes us unpatriotic and corrupt, because we are like a tree without roots.
