- 1,800-year-old camp at the foot of Tel Megiddo housed 5,000 soldiers
- In the Book of Revelation, this is where kings are brought together to do battle

A Roman camp has been unearthed at Armageddon – the place earmarked by the Bible for mankind's apocalyptic final battle.

The 1,800-year-old camp housed more than 5,000 soldiers from the Sixth Ironclad Legion, and lies at the foot of Tel Megiddo in northern Israel.

In the Book of Revelation, Tel Megiddo is where the kings of the world are brought together by demons to do battle, before God unleashes his terrible wrath.

Its Hebrew name, Har Megiddo – meaning Mount Megiddo – was rendered as Harmagedon in Greek, leading to its present infamous moniker.

Now it seems the ominous site has form for hosting large armies, having once held the biggest Roman army base ever found in Israel.

Yotam Tepper, who directed the excavation for Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), said it served the legion for nearly two centuries.

He said: 'The camp was the permanent military base for over 5,000 Roman soldiers for more than 180 years, from 117-120 to about 300 AD.

'Two main roads intersected at the center of the camp and its headquarters were erected here.

'It was from this point, that all the distances along the Roman Imperial roads to the main cities in the north of the country were measured and marked with milestones.'

Measuring 550 metres by 350 metres, it was in a class of its own.

Dr Tepper said: 'Whilst Roman military camps are known in Israel, they are temporary siege camps, or small camps belonging to auxiliary divisions.

'None compares with the entire complex of the legionary base, as has been uncovered in the archaeological excavations at Legio, next to the Megiddo Junction.'

The base was unearthed during an infrastructure project to expand and upgrade a nearby road by the Netivei Israel National Infrastructure Company.

Among the discoveries within the camp are the remains of a large, monumental public building, a podium, and the main road of the camp – the Via Pretoria.

However the buildings are not preserved to their full height, with the stones being repurposed by other builders during the Byzantine and Early Islamic periods.

Archaeologists also found coins, parts of weapons, pottery sherds, glass fragments, and lots of roof tiles – some marked with the legion's brand.

Dr Tepper emphasised that the find was not accidental, crediting the past discoveries of the Jezreel Valley Research Project and the Albright Institute of Archaeology in Jerusalem.

Already six seasons of excavations have taken place, revealing part of the commanders' courtyard nearby.

The present finds are thought to constitute the north-eastern part of the camp.

Ground-penetrating radar suggests the rest of the camp lies beneath the wheat fields of Kibbutz Megiddo, a modern settlement.

The ancient city was first established as far back as 7,000 BCE and was a site of historical importance

Evidence of genuine Jewish ownership of the entire land and Lebanon .

Draslo:

Don't you mean evidence of Roman ownership

There is documented roman history of military campaign, enslavement and renaming of Jewish land to Palestine. This discovery confirms that the Roman history and that the land is Jewish renamed Palestine. So the Arabs who later settled there with the ALREADY EXISTING Jewish population during ottoman conquest are settlers and can't claim ownership of the land. What people don't know is that a large part of present day Jordan and Lebanon are part of the kingdom of judea.

What happened to Jews with Arab immigrants (so called Palestinians. There is no nation or ethnic group known as Palestine) in present day Israel is exactly what is happening in Nigeria with imported niger, mali and Chad fulanis. Because of Fulani political grip on Nigeria their cousins from other places are killing indigenous Benue and plateau people and settling in their lands. In the next 100 years fulanis can lay claim to being indigenous to Benue and plateau states. This is what Arabs did to Jews during the reign of the ottoman empire.

Even the holy koran recognize this land as Jewish and I don't know why people are being unnecessarily emotional instead of logical in this.

GboyegaD:
Not sure I understand this. Thought Isreal was allotted the land after World War II.

You are obviously misinformed. Jews have been existing in the land before the birth of Christianity and Islam.

Let me give you a brief history.

There was a country called Israel. After King Solomon of Israel demise, due to internal divisions the country of Israel split into two. One was still called Israel while the other was called judea with it's capital in Jerusalem.

During the height of roman expansion and conquest the country of Israel and judea was both conquered and colonized by the Romans.
During this period Jesus Christ was born and crucified (crucification was a roman culture)

After lots of years under roman rule a Jewish man named Simeon (can't remember his popular second name) organized a very bloody rebellion that saw the expulsion of roman military camps and government rule in Israel (during roman rule the 2 countries of both judea and Israel was merged together again as one entity)

The news of what happened reached the capital of Rome and the Roman government was very angry due to the bloody cost of the rebellion. The Romans sent a large legion to retrieve the country from Simeon and his rebellious followers.
The legion just did not only defeat Israel but the massacred the population, laid waste to the great Jewish temple in Jerusalem and enslaved anybody they could find and took them to Rome. During this was an estimated 600,000 Jews was killed and the rest ran away from Israel and settled in different current day Arab countries while very few remained.

The Romans renamed Israel to syria Palestina(Palestine in English) to mock the Jews(Palestina is a corrupted version of the arch Israeli enemies philistines who are descendants of Greek origin) and erase the Jewish identity.

The enslaved Jews that where taken to Rome settled in different parts of the Roman empire (different parts of Europe. Don't forget that Rome was the world power and have already conquered large parts of Europe including Germany formerly known as land of the barbarians).

During the rise and height of the ottoman Turkish empire Jerusalem and the entire judea(Israel now called Palestine) was conquered and became part of the ottoman empire. The ottomans being Muslims saw the migration of other Muslims and arabs settling in Jerusalem and other parts of Israel(now called Palestine)
This marked the beginning of Arabs presence in Israel(now called Palestine).

In the early 1900 the ottoman empire fell (they supported Germany in the first world war and lost while Jews scattered in Europe (those taken as slaves to the Roman empire) supported the allied powers (mainly Britain and France)) and parts of the ottoman empire was taken over by Great Britain(this included Israel (now called syria Palestine, Lebanon etc) While France took over Algeria and other parts of north Africa

The violent Arabs being who they are can no longer enforce demeaning conditions against Jews as recommended by Islam due to change in balance of power started roots and killing of Jews.
The British decided to divide the land between Jews and arabs since they can no longer live together. The British proposed to give the Jews back their original lands which included present day Israel, Samaria (currently called west bank), Gaza and present day Jordan while present day syria was to be given to the Arabs.

The Arabs rejected this deal and started killing Jews. Insisting the whole land be given to them and their should be none for the Jews.
Due to this riot the British decided to remove present day Jordan from Jewish territory. This means that the Arabs get to get two countries being syria and Jordan while Jews get only Israel but the Arabs was still not happy with this deal insisting that everything be given to them.

During the second world war the Arabs decided to support Germany ( Hitler was already killing Jews. Something the Arabs loved) while Jews worldwide both in Israel and Europe supported the allied powers.
After the defeat of Germany. The Jews decided to declare their independence with the small land (do not forget that this entire land including Jordan was always Jewish before Arabs immigration) approved by the British.

The Arabs was not happy with the Jewish independence and all the Arab countries in the world decided to attack small Israel that was not even into 2 months old

So brother this is a brief history of the land. The present day Israel has always been a Jewish land and they got it back after fighting on the side of the allied powers with their blood. European Jews where Jews taken to Europe (roman empire) after the destruction of Israel by the Romans. So Britain didn't create Israel from nothing. You can always read up history.

It's all about doing your job and earning profits, nothing more.

Make up stories for justification of workdone.
Instill fear in the hearts of people.

Profit, profit, profit.

When they justify its relevance and hype it up, they sheeple Christians and religious people worldwide for pilgrimage and count their dollars.

It's all about profit

The writer of the book of Revelations wrote of invests which took place beginning around 63 AD and towards the early parts of the second century. The discovered camp is said to have been founded around 117 - 120 AD. undecided

That's where angels and humans will battle? 😂

Another evidence Bible was men work and not God's.
The writers didn't envisioned modern day warfare and weapons.

Israel has so much archaeological and history that the bible is true.

Unlike the Religion of Peace that has nothing but lies & promise of eternal Oloshos.
Imagine 72 Oloshos as reward, and them think say na God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob grin
Na P*mp dey reward with Oloshos not God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob.

Meaning Israel owns everywhere.

Yet only the stubborn terrorists of Gaza feel Israel never existed and shouldn't exist.

They will continue to die at the hands of Israel till the end of the world.

No be me talk am, Na God talk am and I no sey as God talk am it's over for Gaza.

Ok, let's read the bible together

Zephaniah 2:4-5

4 For Gaza shall be destroyed, and Ascalon shall be a desert, they shall cast out Azotus at noonday, and Accaron shall be rooted up.

5 Woe to you that inhabit the sea coast, O nation of reprobates: the word of the Lord upon you, O Chanaan, the land of the Philistines, and I will destroy thee, so that there shall not be an inhabitant.

Now see another one.

Amos 1:6-8

6. Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they carried into exile a whole people to deliver them up to Edom.

7. So I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour her strongholds. 8I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon; I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,” says the Lord GOD.

So at this point no amount of UN resolution, protest from terrorist sympathizers across the world, cry, plea or ICJ ruling can help Gaza.

Israel was destroyed around 720 BC by the Assyrians. It ceased to exist as a nation and its inhabitants fled to different continents back then. Judea, Israel's sister Nation, inhabited by the Jewish tribes of Jacob, is the Nation that got erased around 70AD with Jews fleeing to different continents. undecided
