Nelli don comot field since yet he has the most touches in opponents box(30)

What can be done to unlock this guy inside box abeg? Porto definitely noticed this and did allllllll to make sure he didn't have in box touches. It worked. Can't be having all those touches and still not be getting GAs. Kai was great tonight. 2G/A is 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Na clean sheet pain me. Infact that's what's paining me lately.

See as we tear Newcastle apart with their gra gra physical football.

I hope we can finish up Porto as well with their ultra-aggressive defense and their fast physical players upfront
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 11:59pm On Feb 24, 2024
1. Amazing how we're topping the Gd by this stage of the season when no be say Klopp and Pep don retire.

2. The way we've been scoring goals and set pieces is really commendable esp the first goal. Newcastle thought it's at the far post as usual only to switch it up and play it near post which caught them off guard. Smart move. If we can be switching it up like this we'll certainly be more unpredictable and dangerous. We only switched it up once against Porto and we saw the big chance it created which unfortunately Trossard missed. More of that!

3. Shout out to Jorginho. I know most of us didn't want him at first but mehnnn, he's really been good for us. His penetrative passing to break the wall, the forward passes(very instrumental to the 2nd goal) and the way he marks and read the game is top notch. There was a lot of misconception about him from "he cannot pass forward" to "he can't play without his team parking the bus". This season bar the Tottenham match he's proved to be a very very good player. Tbh, if this was the lineup we played against Porto, we would have seen at least a point. We lacked forward and half space passes which opened up the game and forced Newcastle back while we also lacked Havertz presence on that CF position to trouble their defence. Also Rice driving and progressing of balls is something Havertz isn't good at. I'm guessing this is what Arteta would do during the 2nd leg or Partey for Jorginho.

4. Havertz missed a very big chance but thankfully he scored one before that. He needs to work on his One Vs one sitters cos he misses quite a lot for a forward player. Good pressing even tho sometimes he slows the game down but then there's still hope for improvements

5. Is there anyone who felt sad when a Newcastle player cleared Esr ball off the line. Omorr I felt sad for him. We could see that he lacks sharpness yet he's still dangerous. I wonder how a sharp and fit Rowe will be. Can't wait to have him back towards this crucial end of the season.

6. Mostob, I'm sure you'll be glad with the whipping this boys did today after they heard your plea grin
Anyways, no clean sheet, the only blemish of the game. Still amazed how we played Newcastle off the park.

7. 1st in set piece goals (excluding penalties), different goalscorers, high scorelines, fluidity in our players movement, this is the arsenal I always ask for.
Last of all, Odegaard, Saka, Rice and our two CBs. You see this guy, they should be wrapped in gold. They deserve all the praise and hype they get.

Onto the next one and let's keep on applying the pressure grin

Dan Burn made that goal line clearance and e pain my soul. A goal will do a lot to his morale. Big credit to Arteta for taking his starters out early and g Inc the bench players more minutes. In the past he would have kept them on until late 80 minutes. He was perfect with his coaching today.

When Newcastle were pushing for a goal towards the end of the first, he played a flat back 5 with Jorg joining the back 4 and Rice sitting in front, I thought that was a successful tactic that ensured we finished the first half 2-0.

I was one of Jorginho's critics and I must confess I'm surprised he has turned out good for Arsenal.

It is not a misconception that he doesn't play forward passes. I watched him really well when he was at Chelsea and even as a rival fan I get pissed when he hesitates to play some forward passes but instead pass back to defensive line while they are building attack. He was more of a ball recycler and seldom make forward passes. However, when he decides to make forward passes they are always good passes and u begin to wonder why he doesn't do it often.

Our set-up under Arteta really favors Jorginho and I'm glad he's putting his best in not just playing, but also helping other players be at their best. I appreciate how he communicates with other players on the pitch and even suggest passing lanes to them at times. It is also important to command how he has put in serious shift into defending in the middle of the park. He's now less of an escort like he used to be at Chelsea

Omorr, immediately burn cleared that ball off the line, I wan cry for ESR. Lol.
I know the world of good it would really do to him.

Yeah, Arteta is really learning and adjusting well. He's improved in his in-game management. I guess now he knows what we're aiming for reason why he's benching most of the starters. Kudos to them also for making it easier for him too by closing out the game before the 70min mark

Hopefully, he makes more good decisions going forward and crown it all with a trophy or 2 grin

Yeah, I believe our setup favours him well. Sometimes I dey wonder whether na the same Jorginho be this? grin

Maybe his backpass and sideway passes is the Chelsea coach and environment who wants him to be doing that in order to exert control cos I know he wasn't like that first season at Chelsea. Omorr, kudos to Arteta for bringing out the best version of him. I've been watching him this season and the way he's impressed me is 5x more than what I really expected from him. He seems to also feel at home here too and I think that plays a part. His leadership skills is also commendable and really really needed

I like players like Saka who do their talking on the pitch

Hausa will wait for Saka to be out of form and then come and start telling us Saka and Odegaard are not good enough for a team like arsenal .

Odegaard has the most through pass for any player this seaon now o; Hausa no go see that one . Saka has 20 GA contribution already he won't see that one .

I was thinking we would fold in the middle with Dr Partey busy in the hospital for most of the season . Jorginho and Rice have really made us not miss Xhaka-Partey partnership thus far

I tell you. The guy really dey do talking on the pitch.

Guys like Hausa mostly deh make me laugh. When we were on a high last season, I didn't see him. Immediately we experienced some downturn, he came out all gun blazing on how this team lack winners and how most of them should be sold or benched. Now dem don pick again, him don disappear till the next eke market day grin

Me too.
To show you how good they are, we (and Arteta too) are not even rushing for Partey for Partey to even start. At least let him heal completely. If this was like last season or 2 seasons ago, by now Partey would have been rushed, then he'll break down in the next match and that's our Partey cycle will continue grin

Now he just needs to chill for the crucial part is the season grin

In all honestly they are not the only one; most of the team was actually not good enough but na those two be the major culprits most times followed by David Luiz the Greek gift from Chelsea.

One minute Luiz will play well as a senior man and the next minute he's either collecting red card or causing a bloody goal .
