The successful targeting of the four cables, which are believed to belong to the AAE-1, Seacom, EIG, and TGN systems, marks a serious disruption of communications between Europe and Asia.

Four underwater communications cables between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti have been struck out of commission in recent months, presumably as a result of attacks by Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, according to an exclusive report in the Israeli news site Globes.

The successful targeting of the four cables, which are believed to belong to the AAE-1, Seacom, EIG, and TGN systems, marks a serious disruption of communications between Europe and Asia.
Most of the immediate harm will be absorbed by the Gulf states and India, Globes said.

The AAE-1 cable connects East Asia to Europe via Egypt, connecting China to the West through countries such as Pakistan and Qatar.

The Europe India Gateway (EIG) cable system connects southern Europe to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, the UAE, and India.

The Seacom cable connects Europe, Africa, and India, and is connected to South Africa.

Houthi attacks continue despite Western responses
Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi movement, which is not the internationally recognized government of the Arab country but which controls its most populous segments, has been attacking international trade for months, proclaiming solidarity with Palestinians as Israel wages war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The United States, United Kingdom, and allies have begun in recent months to take offensive actions against the Houthis in response to attacks, but the missile, helicopter, and underwater drone assaults on merchant ships have continued.

Blame Israel, they made it very clear that these attacks in the red sea will continue unless Israel put an end to the massacre in Gaza

Oh, I didn't realise cutting off the cables would stop Israel from wiping out Hamas. I reckon you are intelligent enough to know that this cable attack isn't just affecting one country, it's hitting loads of countries, so you can carry on backing the Houthi terrorists without a clue.

The only massacre that happened was when Hamas daftly invaded Israel on October 7. Why are you moaning now that Israel is fighting back?

If bokoharam demands that Nigerian army should hand over your head to them before they stop their attacks, will you blame Nigerian army if they refuse to cut off your head and hand it over to bokoharam?

The Houthis are the most formidable terror gang in the world.

Currently,no country has been able to dislodge them including the Combined forces of the Saudis and the Emirati. In fact,if not for America that has deterred them, they could have reached Israel long ago.

Since Tinubu became president, terrorism activities has been on the increase all over the world. What a bad luck of a president.

Now these ones are blowing off Internet cables. But wait o, can't these companies make everything wireless? Like, send and receive information through satellite. Why the need for cables again?

There's still a need for cables in some cases. Wireless transmission of information can be slower and less reliable than a wired connection. And there's also the issue of security, I mean a wired connection is often more secure than a wireless one.
In the sense that it's much more difficult to intercept.

With a wired connection, the data is transmitted over a physical cable, so it's much harder for someone to tap into that signal without being detected. And even if they do manage to intercept the signal, it's much harder to decrypt the data without the proper equipment.

Unlike wireless signals which are transmitted through the air, so they're much easier to intercept.
Sure, we know wireless transmission is getting better all the time, but it's not quite the be-all and end-all of information transfer just yet. Lol

houthi's have the backings of iran...the saudi's had issues in communication during their war with the houthi's making them to suffer many casaulties during the war. If u.s wants to clear out houthi's wont take them one month to do so.

I don't think so,the country where they are located is purely a rough terrain and that is why,it took America a very long years to locate Osama bin Laden because the Houthis provided cover for him until he relocated back to Pakistan.
