Praying someone does well is an act of faith and good-will. Same way praying someone fails is willing/hoping someone does horribly. Na English, so no dey worry! emkz:Good suggestions but out of touch with reality at least in Nigeria. Case study is Lagos state that the governor wanted to bring in technocrats. We all know how it ended. Nigeria is still a "chop-I-chop" country. Patriotism is still lip service. |

Lovenorth: First, what governors receive from the FG now cannot even pay their civil servants their monthly salaries. Therefore, you cannot tell them to run the police in their states without them having the resources to do that. This is one of the reasons why they must control their resources. The feeding bottle system has made governors lazy because their hands are tied. Many governors are working; we just chose to turn blind eyes to that fact because we just assume that all politicians are corrupt. Besides, the value of naira has terribly depreciated over the years, meaning that they cannot really do much. However, making governors control the resources in their domain means that nobody will blame Abuja (federal government) anymore for their inability to develop their states. Afterwards, LGAs will be functioning and states will pass laws compelling all LGA chairpersons to live in their domains. Governance and resources must be brought closer to the people. Lastly, building a multicultural country is a lot of hard work. Funnily enough, those who think they can develop Nigeria overnight haven't been able to fix their lives yet. |

lexy2014:If you see nothing wrong with this present constitution then you need a change of perspective cos the notable thing about the constitution is that it even encourages wastefulness and makes our resources not well conserved |

SoNature: Restructure when you have not eliminated tribalism, nepotism and religious biases is a complete waste of time. Governors have so much powers. Controlling the state resources and state police would certainly make them super human. Allowing states control their resources would have been ideally feasible, but politicians will never allow that to happen. What about a breakup? No way either. Give the SW their Oduduwa republic and you will find the Ijebu man fighting the Ijesha man, Ibadan man fighting the Egba man, etc. Give the northerners Arewa and you will find the Fulani fighting the Hausa, Kanuri man, etc. Give the SE their Biafra and you”ll find the Imo man fighting the Anambra man, etc. We must first purge ourselves of the evil brought into our country by our wicked and heavily corrupt politicians. 2 Likes |

lexy2014:Kindly go back to what I said about the constitution…I said it was structured to encourage wastefulness. Does that seem unimportant to you or you what a thorough analysis of such volumes. Amending the constitution is the only option because the bedrock for any nation development is having a viable constitution that can effect positive |
Re: Report Lists Top Performing Ministers In Tinubu's Administration by SoNature(m): 9:18am On Feb 28 |
Cantonese: Nigeria cannot make progress the way it is structured because it wasn't designed to. We must take the first step, which is restructuring. By the way, governors don't even have much. Nigeria isn't a rich country. What your FG budgets is less than what one American state budgets. Allowing governors to control their resources means bringing governance closer to the people. And state houses of assembly must pass laws compelling LGA chairpersons to live in their LGAs. Governors pay 10% tax to the centre, shares 60% of resources to the LGAs according to their contributions and keeps 30%. If you don't see changes in the next 10 years, know that Nigeria cannot work. As for love and love for country, that can only happen when the resources of the people are used to take care of them. You don't owe love to a country that has given you nothing. And resources get to the grassroots when we have functional LGA administration. 1 Like |

lexy2014: You asked what Wike has done, and the person you quoted listed a good number of things he has done and is doing. Now, instead of you to either dispute those things or rest your needless argument you are accusing him of being emotional. I think you're the one who is overly emotional, because I don't see a reason only one person will go on a rampage quoting everyone. Put up your own comment, that's if you have anything reasonable to contribute or go get busy with something else. 2 Likes |

Iziquiel: did I ask for Wike alone or does Wike mean "Wike and Umahi"? why should not accuse him of being emotional? can you remind of his first sentence of his response? can you pls interpret this for me: "I don't what is anger but just perish with it or look for the near by transformer" what are the "good number of things" you say he listed? according to you " I don't see a reason only one person will go on a rampage quoting everyone". has the meaning of "everyone" changed in the dictionary? there are 3,135,322 members on NL. how was I able to quote all these people? for you to have noticed that I quoted 3,135,322 people, that is a feat beyond human comprehension. are you hurt by me quoting "everyone"? where is the rampage you are referring to? |
