Home decor with light at the back of TVs, isn't the light distracting? I've never really been a fan of such home decor.

I hate that shiiit! Even when we dey watch ball for viewing center that year , na only when onile wan collect money he dey switch on light. Once he collects his money he must switch off the light for us to enjoy champions league football .

Putting on light in a viewing center or putting light at the back of ur TV in ur home is like switching on light at a cinema to watch a movie.

it is not

the problem is the colour [colour and colour tempearture] and quality of lights used. it enhanced our viewing experience, but then i got this big dark wooden backboard and that messed up the contrast

my personal expereince is that most of teh time, when nigerian artisans do not have a full and proper understanding of what they are doing so you get a sub par experience

same way people mix differnt colour temperature led lights in peoples houses

I'm sorry I can never enjoy watching TV with lights on as much as without lights on. The only light I want to see is the one coming from the TV/screen .

True grin. Reminds me of AFCON. Initially refused to broadcast because they lost the bid. When news came out that NTA will air it, they somehow found a way to air it as well.

Will try that showmax stuff once my current sub expires. Thank God Chelsea is not in the Champions league and no hope of going next season. grin

I have less incentive to watch it.
Show max is another break out of multichoice

U are spot-on on this. HiTV really messed up not seeing through their competition with DSTV.

By now we won't be dealing with arbitrary increase in price from DSTV
Nigeria happened to hitv
I read they couldn't cope with the bribing and naija people also hack them to have free access

No, I don't think it was bribing that ended HiTV. I learnt it was their inability to get access to credit facility to pay for EPL rights because most of the banks were not willing to offer them loan for that purpose .

There was a deadline for payment of TV rights for EPL and HiTV couldn't come up with the funds before the deadline .

Even Toyin Subair's love for spending in front of K1 and other popular musicians didn't help matters . Toyin Subair is now a special assistant to Tinubu sha ; maybe he will rise from the ashes sonetikes later and slug it out with DSTV now that he has connected to the hisghest source of power in the land .

He can't even raise that money.
The money has increased over time and when you add the fx situation.
Then the fact that dstv offers alot more than they used to them.
You can stream with multiple devices on dstv.
Tstv would have to first set up the needed infrastructure needed for all of that.

Honestly we still pay peanuts for dstv compared to what they offer.
Switch that shit to dollars and you'll see how cheap it is.
Lets not forget the power aspect.

I swear, don't know how people manage with so many lights around the screen, and it's become such a trend.

if you get the ighting right it will improve your movie night experience by providing a contrast.

you need a light coloured bckground though

and you dont want the crude crass and irritating cheap blue lights those so called interior decorators deploy
Possibly sha, just haven't seen it done right, so maybe that's it.

Tstvs business plan was to broadcast pirated signals in a full commercial capacity

Something they could have gotten away with in China but Def not in naija.

or they couild have gotten away with on a low scale - friend of a friend [like ibime and flint are doing wink lipsrsealed] but you cannot run that shit on an industrial scale without coming to the attenton of those in authority

Imagine I am pirating ms office for guys and I then open a full scale business with pirating ms office as my business model.

(tstv was actually broadcasting other providers content)

Nothing because they were nothing
Too much hype that year, cable TV company owned by a single individual cannot rival DSTV....

Na wah, i just googled them and their website is not even opening. Naija is stock with DSTV monopoly, unless some serious individuals or company can launch and properly manage a Cable Tv.

Lmao.. Guy forget, dstv will not have a rival.
I don't know how dstv is able to arrive at their prices but they do it.
If another company does it, they will ask us to pay the same or higher while not maintaining the level of experience that dstv offers.

it's just that naija is too filled with low tech-wised individuals and also coupled with the poverty and illiteracy, otherwise I dont see why people womt port to streaming services?

their only rival will be when data, tech and unlimited Internet is fully revolutionlized, that's when they will sit up

But now they should enjoy the show of monopoly
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by seankafor(m): 1:05pm On Mar 03
Honestly, I can't see my self bringing myself down to buying and subbing dstv again in my life..

I think 💬 I've passed that stage tbh
It's too old cargo for me

you are not following tech news

streaming services are no longer a value proposition

they keep raising their prices, adding ads - basically they have pushed out cable and have adopted the cable services model

also, when streaming started, it was just netflx. now everyone has their own streaming service - so if you want the boys yiu must subscibe to amazon, you want see you must subscribe to apple - and so on. righht now there are at lest six streaming services, all with prime content exclusive to them.

People dey

The evil that men do lives on after them and the good they do is often buried with them

This is what happens at the end of polygamy /baby mamaism etal. Wives, ex wives, concubines all fighting over your carcass before it has turned cold.

He was actually lucky that the family stayed with him to his death and that was probably because he was a celebrity and there was a stream of goodwill money to fight over.

Also guys over 40 - we have to take care of our health and check ourselves frequently so we can arrest these things before they get out of hand

Guys under 40 - damage is cumulative. The drinks, drugs etal you mess with and abuse in your youth will do damage that will start to manifest when you are older. Live a life of moderation
