Explains the malicious damage charge.

Depending on the item she damaged, she may be locked up but if she drop kpekus for OC, we will drop the charges & charge the husband with homosexuality which is 14 years.

This my female colleague at work received a call from a female Police officer by name officer angel.

She informed her that her husband brought a complaint against her to the station and as a result her presence is required at the station.

It was when she got home tonight that the police Invitation was handed to her by a co-tenant.

Right now, she is contemplating if she should honor the invitation or not as she is not sure if the Nigerian police can be trusted.

From what I could gather concerning her and her husband is that they have been married for less than two years. The foundation of the marriage was built on lies. The husband pretended to be what he wasn't during their courtship, which unfortunately lasted less than three months.

My colleague for reasons I'm yet to understand failed to make all the necessary enquiry concerning the man she was getting married to.

The man has been married before in which the first wife died as a result of maltreatment from the man and his family members especially from his mother and his elder sisters.

My colleague saw a completely different man from what she thought that she got married to in less than a month after their white wedding.
She was always treated like a slave by her mother in law and two of her daughters with broken marriages.

The husband always accused her of having extra marital affairs with no tangible evidence to back it up and usually have her locked out of their rented apartment.

This is actually the first time she stood up to her husband and the next thing he did was to report her to the police.

Guide your friend properly.
It is a serious offense not to honour a police invitation.
Your friend should practice how to write a police report. Anyone invited to the police must make a statement while answering the summon.
Your friend should carefully think about all she would want the police to know about the matter.
If she makes a good statement, she can be bailed without a lawyer. If she fumbles, she may be arrested and then she would need a lawyer.

She can also ask police to show her a copy of the statement her husband made. Anyone who goes to report a case must make a statement. This may or may not be granted. She should ask for that before making her own statement

It'll be safer for her to go with a friend, better still a lawyer who she can introduce as a friend before the police ie if they ask. Besides there's no law against honouring police invitation with someone. She should be on guard!

Go to the police station with your lawyer. That solves it.

Wouldn't that make it look like she is guilty of the unfounded accusations against her?
Thanks for your quality input anyway
Tell her to go with a lawyer and stop asking unnecessary questions.
She should also inform her family about her where about
If she fails to go, then she will be declared wanted

Re: Police Invitation; What Could Go Wrong At The Police Station? by israelmao(m): 11:47am On Mar 05
Get a competent lawyer and relate the matter to him or her,go to the police station with him or her as well to honour the invitation. However, there's an existing evil pattern trending in your husband's family, your husband's first marriage ended up with death of his late wife who died as a result of maltreatment and your husband's two sisters had broken marriages and in full support of what their brother did to you even together with their mother.

If they are legally married, then it is going to be a civil case and not a criminal case. But if they are not legally married, the case of malicious damage will be discussed and she will be out on bail in 24hrs.

The police might play some games to keep her overnight in the cell. So, she needs to go there with a pillow and be nice to her cell mate.

Fear is natural.

She married the man thinking he is rich, only to realize he is a struggler. Wahala

This is not a criminal case but civil and it's only handled by competent court of law. Police are mandated to involve only in criminal case

If their marriage is not working due to domestic violence, they need to approach court of law fordl dissolution

We only heard one side of the story whereas coin has 2 sides

If you're a man and she's your actual colleague, you might be the person her husband suspects she's cheating with, leading to the accusations. The fact that she confides in you about her home issues raises concerns. Despite this, she's invited for damaging property at home, and her husband has involved the welfare department, giving her the chance to present evidence if she believes she was mistreated. It's crucial for her to have legal representation when dealing with the situation.

What is she afraid of? Honor the invitation, I hear what they have to say. Simple as ABC.
Re: Police Invitation; What Could Go Wrong At The Police Station? by Ategberoson(m): 11:56am On Mar 05
What exactly made the husband reported her? The reports is not clear

Police wouldn't entertain a civil matter except their is a physical abuse, threat to life, public nuisance, damage of properties

But note that, in all this she will never be detain rather she might be compel to write undertaken or perhaps fund back any damage items

MALICIOUS DAMAGE She must present herself or else she'll be arrested. They just want to ask her some questions. If she knows she damaged anything in that house, she should make sure she has money to pay for it. She should also go during the week Monday to Thursday and not Friday where they can have chance to keep her throughout the weekend. She should also go with a lawyer to perfect her bail incase they have her arrested which I highly doubt since it's a husband and wife affair. Her only issue will be if she destroyed anything like the letter says which they want to investigate.

Ps. If she's tired of the marriage, her family should return the bride price

I don’t understand some women sha

Here, is your ‘ husband’ maltreating you and you still stay put. What happened to divorce or separation? Or better still disappear and be untraceable?
Some women just want to die inside marriage all for the sake of MRS.
Make she go the police station na, she will never have sense. So the man is her all in all?
She is stupid, and I’m not saying this respectfully
I hate rubbish
