RevenuesBoost:We don't need more farmers. No single country has gotten richer or better because they had more farmers. We need more doctors, nurses, engineers, tech people. We already have enough farmers. |

RevenuesBoost:You people will be priding in your ignorance. It works for our forefathers because the world hasn't changed much, now that agriculture alone can't determine the economy growth of a nation you still wants to revert back to the old method and you failed to ask question, why do developed countries rely on mechanised farming instead of just advising people of all fields to start backyard farming? Why is population of farmers keep reducing in these same developed countries? If we keep blaming the government, food will keep getting costlier even as the country's population is increasing everyday. The government will continue to take the blamed because that's their priority in the first place. So I don't see why excluding government from this will solve the problem. I support the fact that the Government have to improve the agricultural sector, but we shouldn't fold our hands while waiting. You don't need to support, you should as well put the blame on people. We are already feeling the heat of food scarcity. That was because the government failed to provide enabling environment for mechanised farming which is 100 times better and sufficient than individual farming system. The Late Gov of Ondo State Olusegun Agagu came with a brilliant ideas but badly implemented during his tenor. The ideas is that once you as a farmer has land that is measured in hectares just apply to the government, the government will provide tractor to clear, provide necessary machineries and seeds, and fund. He even came with the idea of two or three having land closed together to join as partners and government will be the one supervising it e.t.c My own is, as the food is getting scarce, plant something. You feel it's nothing but it will go a long way.Well it's a good advice but just know that no matter how people do backyard farming it can never solve food scarcity. Not all agricultural products you can even be planted in backyard as some need special treatment and different types of soil. If Tinubu doesn't take farming seriously, the next president might just do same and then what happens? That is why, we need a leader who knows what to do and not just playing politics. Some persons in Nigeria are even richer than the federal government but can't venture into agriculture because of reasons known to them.I believe it's their choice and there are many people who also want to venture into agriculture but are not financially buoyant, FG can address that. So don't wait for FG, help yourself. But people like Dangote can wait for FG to help him. Let FG creates the system and see if many people will not join the train. |

Emusan:You will never get the message in my post because you detest farming. Explaining to you is pointless Continue blaming the government, the government that don't even eat Garri but imported wheat and foreign rice. Food price will keep going up, Keep waiting for the government. |

tctrills:And all of them will eat grass someday because all the farmers are old and dying, and the young ones are in university preparing to be doctors, nurses, engineers and tech people that will detest farming in the future. There's nothing wrong is being a doctor or a nurse and owning a farm. I can show you an example from a nurse I know that owns a very big poultry, cassava and yam farm. She also plants corn in it's season. Those that see the benefits will keep doing it. And those that don't will keep buying food stuffs and waiting for the government to plant for them. |

HellVictorinho6:This is what everyone feels that's why no one will end up doing it. Everyone is waiting for the other person to plant. Citizens are waiting for the FG, the FG is waiting for LG. Na here I dey o Oya mek we pass blame give government, wait for government to feed Nigeria. Na like this we dey since, food don cost pass some people. At least I'm not waiting for the government, I don't buy Garri, I produce it. I can never join people shouting for high cost of Garri, that's my point.

RevenuesBoost:I also have farms and yes it's good to farm, I get your point. You are encouraging people to farm to escape the present hunger and that's good. On second thought, I think you are right. Nigeria is a special case so let anyone that has access to land go back to farming rather than complain about hunger. |

Brendaniel:I and my husband are graduates. It will surprise you that a graduate like me is encouraging people to go back to their farm lands. Farming is not just for illiterates or those that didn't make it to the university. I detested farming not until I saw it's benefits. I'm a CCR of MTN and a Social Media Booster (I assist people in monetizing their social media pages) I plant most of what I eat. I also deliver Garri to interested people. Cost of a big basin in my area is 18,000 Naira. 11 buckets of custard rubber 33kg

RevenuesBoost:Good, which means your kind of job allows you have time to farm, what about those who have to work 9-5 Mondays to Saturdays, leave house as early as 4am and come back at 10pm, what do you advise them to do about farming? What of those who live in face me I face you who don't have space to farm or rented apartments like flats? |
| Re: Stop Blaming the President For High Cost Of Food in Nigeria by RevenuesBoost(op): 1:26pm On Mar 06, 2024 |
Brendaniel:Jobs like that should give you days of break, if not make use of your sunday evenings. Have you heard of sac farming. Planting crops like yams, groundnut, pepper and tomatoes in sacs. Sacs doesn't occupy too much space. If their villages is not too far from the city they live in, they should make use of their farm lands if they have one. Also this farming thing is not by force, the aim of my post is to make Nigerians see that they are the ones doing themselves if they keep waiting for the government. |
| Re: Stop Blaming the President For High Cost Of Food in Nigeria by Brendaniel: 2:33pm On Mar 06, 2024 |
RevenuesBoost:Thank God you said it is not by force, you expect someone to plant and only check his plants on Sundays or when he has break only... In farming you consider various factors, I'm a farmer too, so I'm speaking from experience... The truth is the government has failed in terms of agriculture, not everyone is waiting for the government, I started farming in 2014 in commercial scale, with hectares of land.... I'm not farming right now for some certain reasons but my farm lands are still there.... I'm not waiting for the government, I only need to put some things in place before I return to farming again, and this time I want to do it bigger, better and faster... But I just want to let you that everyone might not go into farming because it requires certain things some people may not have the resources, time and space to do.... So don't blame Nigerians, there are people I know who want to farm but don't have the resources or time to start.... Nigerians are not lazy people.... |
| Re: Stop Blaming the President For High Cost Of Food in Nigeria by RevenuesBoost(op): 4:25pm On Mar 06, 2024 |
Brendaniel:I'm a Nigerian as well No one said Nigerians are lazy Get my message right. My message is, instead of waiting for the government and passing blames on the government, why not do it yourself. No one forcing anyone to farm. Those that are farming knows it's benefits |
| Re: Stop Blaming the President For High Cost Of Food in Nigeria by Brendaniel: 4:30pm On Mar 06, 2024 |
RevenuesBoost:And I'm telling you that there are people who want to do and are not waiting for the government but don't have the time and resources to do it..... That is where the government comes in to make sure those who have the time and resources are able to produce more than enough for everyone. That is how most countries solved theirs..... |
