With the current high cost of living, for a man with 2kids, a realistic minimum wage will be about ₦200k
200k will not be enough bro...........I'm telling you the truth.

In this Nigeria and our bad economy.....Labour must be dreaming!
The highest they can get is N50000!

Your comments makes sense!
But,for Ajaero and his political- NLC tools,if you are the one running your business, can you pay out such money on Monthly basis?

To President Tinubu:
Your Govt is not doing enough- to ameliorate the workers suffering because since you entered in May,29th,2023,it is expected that - this issues of New Workers Salaries and Allowances, would have been settled by now!
For Nigerians will soon be asking on what did you do for one year in the Office, even the Palliatives to Workers and the Retirees - have nothing to write home about and the Salaries can't meet the high Inflations!
Why All this delay?
Why are NBillions paid to Governors and Executive ( Federal and States), including the 160-SUV Jeep- to the National Assembly Members -are not delayed, for you can't be politicising everything ,for the Workers are suffering, and fix a time frame to get this behind you, since the Private Sector, including NECA is involved.
Let them set a Final Month and Date of agreement on this Negotiations!
You don't need all these Long Committees Meetings--to know what is good and reasonable to Pay the Workers.

Continuous minimum wage demands will erode Naira and cause insurmountable inflation.

You're a Tinubu supporter so your comment should be flinged down the drain.

Joe Ajaero will continue to be NLC president and there is nothing you or Tinubu can do about it .

Lol... I only pity civil servants. By the time Joe is done with them, they will show him the door.

When did he first demand for #1m as min wage? How many months ago was that? How many meetings did he have with the FG?

By the time he is done wasting time again negotiating this #500k min wage, your eyes go clear.

You are probably not a civil servant. At best, probably still eating mama thank you or your wife is the one feeding you. If not you won't be here saying nonsense. Lmaoo.

I believe the last zero must be a mistake. NLC wants to kill Naira patapata. If a cleaner with minimum qualification earns 500k then a university professor would be going home with over 20 million Naira. Then the residents doctors will start their own.

That Ajaero na comedian.

Labour Union is not fighting for Nigerians who are unemployed and those working in the private sector. They are only fighting for the government workers alone. The 25 and 35k cash palliatives have only been given the federal government workers and few state workers only.Nothing is given to the unemployed and those working in the private sector as they are not vulnerables.

Labour congress has no business with unemployed Nigerians, they are a union set up to fight for the right of Nigerian workers. Unemployed Nigerians should hold the govt accountable and not labour

Re: Minimum Wage: Labour Slashes Demand To ₦‎500,000 by honour7: 8:34am On Mar 07
The minimum wage is not the issue, the main issue is that Nigeria is not producing enough for export and we import irrelevant things. Let there be a high tariff on things such as tvs, cars, phones and encourage the companies to assemble here if they want to sell cheap and government should invest in farming settlements

It's high time NLC gets disbanded or at least this present set gets chased away because they are adding more to the pain of the masses. So many failed strikes and protest from them since this clueless administration took over with nothing tangible coming from them..

It's safe to say NLC is just another arm of this evil government.

Sounds like those in the private sector needs to unionize as well🤷🏽‍♂️

Do you know how much he gets with each unproductive meetings, i seconded you , im just stating that each meeting is productive for him and his small circle of cabals that is why he keeps doing that weak protest so people wont say he don collect money.
EponObi:
This crop of NLC leadership is a disgrace and an embarrassment. Adams Aliyu Oshiomole still remains the best NLC president this country ever had.

Joe Olenyo turned the negotiations to circus. No government would respect and take you serious with that #1m min wage demand. The dude just turned the whole thing to Fuji House of Commotions. Baba Sala would have been a better fit as NLC president. Even the workers he leads don't take him serious again and it's no surprise they don't follow him when he declares his useless protests.

When Tinubu lashed at the NLC leadership at the Red Line launch events, I already knew the current NLC leadership needs to be overhauled. Tinubu who is widely known to be diplomatic saying all that only means one thing - the NLC leadership are being unreasonable.

Now, Joe is readjusting his demand to #500k, another unrealistic min wage. Time is going fgs. NLC is allowing the FG too much breathing space. They will bring them to the table for another round of unproductive negotiations. Every right thinking Nigeria esp the workers already know it's unrealistic, so they don't expect anything to come out of it. Probably by July or Aug, Joe will reduce to #300k; then another round of negotiatioms that will last months.

The NLC should impeach Joe before it's too late. The man is only using their head to play ludo.

Hian. The NLC should be realistic in making demands. That 500,000 Naira is not possible. In fact, it impossible. No government will pay such amount.
That's why it's called negotiation!
You don't bid close to your intended amount...that will put you at great disadvantage!
This was the grave mistake that former president of NLC ayuba wabba made!
Ayuba wanted 50-60k as minimum wage then and should have placed it at 200-300k so that the final negotiation will end up around 50k but he decided to start with his intended figure 60k and FG made them negotiate down to 30k
The idea is to start big with negotiation to end up around 100-150k

even with that, some state governors still didn't pay the 30K minimum wage. So this one will be something else.
