To test what God had created to see if it will obey and keep his commands. Sadly, Man failed |

Because God could see the future and wanted Adam and Eve to eat it so he could have an excuse to punish an ENTIRE species of creation for the gluttony of 2 people. A real nice guy! |

Icuib4cu: Revelation 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. |

They said it's because an omniscient god wanted to test Adam and Eve, and know the result of his test. |

Namaster:Christians need to agree with one and stop deceiving themselves. It's either Yahweh set them up because he wanted them to suffer or Yahweh is just clueless, or maybe he's just too unintelligent to simply avert an avoidable incident. |

Cause its a literary work of fiction from when humans just about got into creative fictional writing. You'd find similar works of epic by the Akkadians and Sumerians. No one reads the Epic of Gilgamesh and thinks that actually happened, but Jewish stories on the other hand get taken as fact for various semantic reaons. That's why when you apply logic to the story, it doesn't hold up. You don't even need to apply a lot of decent logic to spot the plot holes. You'd spot the contradictions in the story and the parallel creation stories that show it wasn't even all written by one single writer. So don't bother trying to make a whole lot of sense from it cause even the christains who claim to operate under "divine inspiration" all have their various deductions and interpretations hence you see no 2 Christians can agree on a singular interpretation of the biblle from cover to cover. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Depriest2020: Yes yes the "freedom of choice" and "free will" where you have to live by strict pedantic rules (that no 2 Christians even agree on wholeistically) or get punished forever lol. More like delusional illusion coined as free will. |

Jokerman:If what you created is perfect, there'll be no need to test it. And secondly, if in the process of manufacturing your products you test it and you see it's not perfect, you correct the faults you find so as to make it perfect. Especially as you, the manufacturer, is perfect. |

Depriest2020:But why would you give freedom of choice to a flawed human? Isn't that like giving absolute freedom of choice to a baby? What do you think will happen if you tell your 1yr old baby to either continue to crawl towards the fire, or listen to your voice calling him to turn back? I'm not in any way doubting God's competence, I just think there's a lot we don't know about him and most of what we know of him in the bible could have deliberately been put there by some people to manipulate those who read it |

Depriest2020: Lol, right. Brought them to life when nobody asked him and put them to test right away, while rigging the system against them by keeping a smart/cunning serpent and an evil tree right in their midst. Then billions of people have to suffer for it and navigate through a very tough life while trying to avoid hell (which he created) by being part of a religion which only started less than 3000 years ago and isn't even practiced by half of the world's population. Sounds like a manipulative evil god. |

thesicilian: He'll probably tell you that Adam and Eve were not 1yr old kids, forgetting that Adam and Eve had no knowledge of good and evil, so the concept of disobedience was alien to them, just like little babies. 2 Likes |

thesicilian: As a creator or inventor, you can decide to test run your creation or invention. And if your invention had a fault somehow or somewhere, you work on the correction. God has done that by sending Jesus Christ to earth to die for his creation created in his image and likeness. *For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who so ever believes in him shall not perish with satan and his agents, but have eternal life* So God have us freewill, so we decide if we want to be on God's side or the disobedient ones. |
