favor914:This shows that they didn't think it through. Policies are not things one wakes up in the morning with towel around his waist and just puts up. That's what they are doing. Taxing expats changes nothing if they don't stand against the oppression of Nigerian staff in these companies. Especially Asian firms. The govt need to first look into the welfare of Nigerians there. When these Nigerians are paid we'll, they will pay tax to the govt. Many of these companies are not even in any pension scheme. They give the workers direct cash and not even through any bank. Reason I don't rate NLC, TUC and other stewpid agencies masquerading here and there. Govt know where to attack. They actually attacked the wrong place. Local content has been in existence. 1 Like |

This government is truly the Policy summersault expert When this came up, I asked what was the reason the NCDMB has been monitoring the expatriate / Nigerian quota as well as the payments already in place; if there was anything to be done on this, it was just to fine-tune and ensure the leakages in the policy is blocked and revenue consolidated |

malali: The government already charges a $2,000 annual residence permit fee for expats. That this policy shuffled through from ideation to a fan-fare launch is proof that this administration is filled with dolts. -Lord 4 Likes 2 Shares |

agabusta: Expatriates are the problem.. They do not want to transfer knowledge and skills to Nigerians. They want Nigerians to remain unskilled and be their cleaners, gatemen and drivers and not their engineers, computer programmers and managing directors. |

What do you mean it doesn't augur well? Some decisions are good when they were taken but events later spoilt things. That does not equate with a hastily made decision that is clearly and obviously going to backfire on you. That you cannot tell the difference btw the two shows you are inept yourself. The poster you are attacking is correct. If you are begging foreigners to come and invest in your country-why will you make it more expensive for them to set up than before? The same govt that you worship has made a u turn but you are condemning someone for calling out the initial bad decision. Are you a zmbiee? favor914: |

I thought I was the only one wondering what this has got to do with Qatar trip? Qatar is are not coming there to set up businesses and factories so they don't care whether you tax expatriates to death cmikel: |
Re: FG Suspends Implementation Of Expatriate Employment Levy by zoomman(m): 5:16pm On Mar 09 |
The main reason why I dislike this administration is that they act without reasoning. Why don't you reason first before taking action? Why removing subsidy without providing cushioning tools. Now the economy is in shambles. Thank God you reverse this current decision you took, it would have been a terrible disaster. |

codemaniacs: Well, maybe you are talking because of your level of exposure. At the top, there's a dearth of skillet. It is at the bottom people are dragging positions and competition is tough. At the high level, there's vacancy but difficult to fill those roles due to lack of capable hands. Even when there are capable Naija people, their level of integrity is usually below par. This is not to say in all cases but very common. |
Re: FG Suspends Implementation Of Expatriate Employment Levy by codemaniacs: 12:05pm On Mar 10 |
agabusta: Anyone who says "their level of integrity is usually below par" has never held a top position in a company.. There's no dearth of skillet anywhere... Nigerians have enough skill set and qualifications to hold any top position.. Your own level of integrity is the one that's below par. |
