How we wan take do their 2 now because they each have troubling weaknesses. To be honest any goalie will be happy to Saliba/ Gabu in front of them.
The truth is Raya is Arteta's beloved. Did you see his comment after the game? "Mistakes are part of goalkeepers. 😂😂😂

Meaning he is aware too of what Raya did vs Porto. You're absolutely right. If those 2 dey Infront of Onana, dem go dey top 3 as well.

I guess it's more like DSTV app than dem Netflix.

U know DSTV too if u are streaming using ur smart card details and u share same details with somebody else, only one person can stream at a time. It's either u wacth on TV and share stream details with ur friend who can only stream on just one device.

Unlike Netflix that so many people can be using one account at the same time

No good keeper will stay rooted inside 6-yard box while his team are building up play upfront. Any elite keeper will right where Ramsdale was at that point in time. Especially if u keep for a team like Arsenal or Man city or Loserpool who always keep possession; a keeper is expect to be part of the team to build up play with them

Our players lost the ball upfront and Toney took the initiative to hit the ball almost immediately he gained the ball.
Absolutely spot on... yes he did mistake and that should not' make us put him under the bus like he did nothing there.

Toney save and the other header (his name skipped my mind).

I'm not trying to justify his silly mistake this night tho.

At the end of first half I told someone close to me that Ramsdale messed us up in that first half and he definitely needs to save us in the second half when Brentford will come out and try to consolidate on the momentum they built from the late goal.

And that was exactly what Ramsdale did in the second half. He came out big in all those their aerial balls and that Toney shot

Omo, I just watched the tiktok video of that Havertz goal again. The way Saliba dey jump around dey ginger that fans during celebrations lasan; these guys are matching their football on the pitch with passion.

I'm really happy we had Saliba and Gabriel as our CB's that yesterday . I just have a strong feeling that any of our previous CB pairings would've conceded second goal that yesterday especially from the numerous set pieces and when Toney/Maupay/Wissa were trying to break our defence from their keepers' long goal kicks they wanted to control and pass one-time to themselves .

Especially Toney he really struggled with saliba no chance at all

Is this allowed in the EPL ? For a club to be using their official social media page to call out the ref for decisions they believe didn't go their way?

Brentford posted a video of the Havertz penalty appeal and they are claiming a Havertz should've gotten a second yellow because he dived .

Whereas I've never seen arsenal post such for the numerous decisions we've had gone against us like their offside goal last season, Newcastle's ball over the line goal that stood earlier this season and so many more .

Anyways Arsenal fans don drag them tire for comment section , particularly for the Trossard penalty incident

It wasn't a dive but Kai appealed the challenge

It's obvious it's not a dive ; the ref decided there was contact but just that the contact was not enough to award a penalty

It’s unnecessary jare.

I’d prefer those lads don’t get this type of unnecessary attention that might get to their heads and make them lose focus on their development.
Leyqute:
It bodes well for Saka (and Arsenal) that his efforts this season have gone under the radar.
I think it's on the contrary. This awards will definitely motivate them especially Hojlund and Kobbie to put in the work and I don't think it'll give them unnecessary attention. With or without the award, Saka already has the hype
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera:
1. I asked for mentality ystdy from the team and hoped Ramsdale's error doesn't undo their hardwork and I'm glad they responded. It's refreshing to see them doing the huddle and all rallying behind Ramsdale to get the 3 points. Most of our players this season have made errors leading to goals at different point in times and the trans have still turn up the screw and won the game, I'm so glad Ramsdale's own wasn't an exception.

2. Started the game brightly especially his long throws which setup us up on a counters. Made a big mistake leading to their equaliser and from then on (coming into the second half) we can see that it affected his confidence from passing out from back which made him to be playing long balls. These long balls couldn't make us to start buildups from back to push forward. Thank goodness we're one of the best teams to win aerial balls and second balls else we would have lost control through that decision.
Thankfully also, he didn't allow the mistake from the first half to affect his confidence goalkeeping wise and he came up big twice to still keep the scoreline level. Kudos to him on that.

3. The Brentford game was like a teaser to what we'll expect from Porto on Tues. Brentford played midblock and we're very aggressive and compact before we scoring the first goal. And in the second half where they came in with their equaliser, they resorted to theatrics and time wasting (just like Porto) in order to breakup play, waste time and frustrate us while being aggressive man to man. Thankfully we were able to overcome as we pile on the pressure looking for that half space passes. No matter what, Jorginho his very very useful in this cos both in the first half and second half (before being substituted) he was immense in giving those forward and penetrating passes. We also missed Martinelli cos he seems to have understanding with Rice in that advanced role Rice is playing. I dunno if Martinelli will be available but he's really needed that second leg especially with drifting between the wings and CF position (when running across).
Kudos to the fans too for not having Brentford's theatrics to have much effect on the ref. We will really need that for Porto too.

4. Ben White had a very very good game ystdy. Two sweet and teasing crosses just needed to be beautifully converted and thankfully it was.
Havertz in that Cf position have been very immense for us and even though he's somehow profligate in front of goal(which he obviously needs to improve on), he still makes up in other ways that's beneficial to the team. Hats off to him for the winning goal to.
Interestingly, he scored a late winner(header) against Brentford in the first leg which took us at the top of the table. Same goal, same team and we're once again top of the table (at least for now). Hopefully we keep on grinding.

5. I love the way we move in fast transition when ever there's a move for a counter. No longer passing back and sideways when we can obviously transition quicker.
Lastly, I want to give a special shout outs to Odegaard, Rice and our Back 4. They've been all very immense and they're the platform on which this team really excels.

Next Porto. Hopefully, we eliminate them.

COYG!!!

You don’t think it can also make them complacent? What about the dose of expectation it heaps on them?

That Saka is not getting the hype that merits his performance level reduces the scrutiny on him which lessens the pressure on him, thereby making his job easier.

I've never heard or read or see people (both online and offline) banter or troll players because they won an award for player of the month(even if they flop the next month), so yeah I don't think so. And players are human beings that also needs motivation and acknowledgement.
I know how the first EPL goal broke the jinx of Hojlund scoring consistently there on, it's just unfortunate that he's on an injury cos I know this would have motivated him to do more instead of being complacent.

I’m not talking about banter. You haven’t seen a youth player (or even older ones) shine, get too much hype, and then drop considerably and never reach their potential?

Well, it happens. Pogba. Peperempe. Hudson Odoi. Zaha. Abbl

I’m less worried about Hojlund than I am about Gernacho. His decision making is not like it used to be.

Ohhh... I get.
But then I think that's a different a different situation we're talking about.

And yeah, you should be worried about Garnacho tho. I think he needs a better coach and a better environment to put his head down which presently Ten Hag isn't doing. Most of these players were not being managed properly tho and maybe apart from Pogba.

Agree. Bigger stress on environment. He shouldn’t be shouldering this much responsibility in a dysfunctional team at this age when he is yet to hit his peak.

Who do you think will win the league? And what chance does each contestant have?

Exactly. But then, the good thing is that you guys seems to be getting it upstairs (that's putting footballing people in footballing places) so I don't think Garnacho reliance will be too much probably starting from next season. Structure and environment is really important in a club sha, then a very very good coach to. A coach who can improve players that's why you'll hear testimony about players who worked under Pep and Klopp saying that they always see things differently and that their game play have improved. I wonder how Foden will be if he's not under Pep and I wonder where Rashford would have been now with Klopp.

Hmmmm, this season I believe it'll be tight. I want arsenal obviously and I know we're ready for the fight compared to last season (I no put mouth about us winning last season cos I suspected they might falter along the way due to pressure).
But if I'm a neutral fan watching the three teams, I'll give it to Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool (in that order) and here are my reasons or the chances

Man City: They've been there and even though they're considerably weaker compared to previous seasons, they just have that mentality and experience to scrape through a 3 point even while not at their best. They're just favourite just because they're always in these kind of pressure yet still come out tops and of course they have guardiola. But due to their considerably weaker squad (compared to previous seasons), their two other rivals have hope.

Arsenal: They're playing one of the best football in the country and seem to get everything right but then they know that the only way to win the league is by winning everybody. Winning Man City, Man U, Tottenham all away is a big task and they know they need to do it. If they can do this in the next ten matches while picking up the other big match wins at home (Aston Villa, Chelsea— which I believe they would), then they have a good chance of winning it. This five matches is where I believe the league will either be won or lost for us.
Another thing is keeping the core fit. Odegaard, Rice and the two CBs needs to be fit for this to happen, else the system might be weak.

Liverpool : They're another resilient team and I'm still in awe on how they are still in title race even with the whole bunch of injuries they have. But then, I don't think the defence is that strong even though their attack individually is the strongest amongst the top 3. What is see is a group of players fighting for their manager's pride and to give him a befitting goodbye. But they're a very good side and they've been here before even though the core of them are missing (dem Hendo, Mane etc)

All In all, personally the disparity isn't much among the top 3 cos they all look ready, looks to have experience and their depth seems very good for the fight.

It'll be a entertaining end of the season cos I believe all 3 will go down the wire grin
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Leyqute(m): 2:21pm On Mar 10, 2024
Well said Jodera.

I also believe it will go down to the wire. Everyone's got their job cut out for them.

Fixture congestion, squad exhaustion and fatigue might play a role tho. The squad that can keep winning inspite of these issues would probably win it.

Arsenal will be there if they maintain their form and avoid injuries. Same with City and Liverpool although I think Liverpool will fall off soon if they don't sort their defense out. They've played the most games too, so they're more likely to be fatigued.
