2. The American hostage crisis at the US embassy in Teheran after the Shah of Iran was kicked out of office
in the 1979 Khomeini revolution. Remember? That was what doomed Carter's chance to get reelected.
It was mainly that issue during which Reagan appeared to be the right to be in office.
Carter lost because he was unable to get the hostages out. Things even got bad for him after the helico of commandos sent
to free the hostages collided and crashed. Troops died. It was a humiliating situation Reagan promised would not happen
