What exactly is good about this? A man stole billions and the matter is settled by simple plea-bargain. Meaning he stole, has made profits from the money and is asked to pay back what he stole and then go Scot-free. Why is good about that?

EFCC should be releasing daily news, Once in 6 months apprehension doesnt justify the existence of the whole agency.
Announce whistle-blowing phone numbers.
Announce email addresses where fraud allegations evidence can be sent to.
The world has advanced so much, you can have a lot of evidence sent to you as long as you always protect your source.

Once everyone knows, that the fraud could be detected and reported anonymously, it will cut down corruption by at least 50-80%.
If you see something funny going on send an email to us, send us a text with evidence, we will investigate the rest.

Not until you get that serious all these showboating wont curb the degree of corruption we have in Nigeria.

See how quick the news got to the frontpage,so that the slippery tribe will masturbate over it...Btw isn't it obvious that EFFC more often than not,prey more on certain individuals from certain parts of Nigeria while turn a blind eye when it gets to those two tribes that over the years has continuously looted and squandered the common patrimony of the Nigerian people by virtue of their long stay in power.For example,look at the top custom officers whom were found guilty of collecting bribes running into billions but because they are from those two tribes that has strangulated this country,they were treated with kid glooves and made to pay in a little part and they are now Free men back to their posts.

At least he is been held and to some extent account for the fraud. If same level of treatment should be metted-out to other fraudulent politicians and non-politicians, then progress will be made even in it's smallest unit. As time goes on citizens will adjust and fraud won't be a norm anymore in Nigeria. It's a gradual process.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will today, Thursday, October 5th, arraign popular businessman, Chief Cletus Ibeto before the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over an alleged N4.8 billion fraud.

The EFCC will dock the businessman alongside his companies, Ibeto Energy Development Company and Odoh Holdings Ltd before the court on a 10-count charge bordering on allegations of conspiracy, fraud, forgery and fraudulent use of documents.

They are to be arraigned before Justice Ismail Ijelu.

The charge sheet sighted by LEADERSHIP was signed in April 2023 by the Head, Legal of the EFCC, Gbolahan Latona.

Count 1 of the charge says that Chief Cletus Ibeto, Ibeto Energy Development Ltd and Odoh Holdings Ltd between June 2016 & May 2017 within the jurisdiction of the court by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained from Dozzy Oil & Gas Ltd and Sir Daniel Chukwudozie, the sum of N4.8bn purporting same to be consideration for 22.6536 Hectares of land which he claimed to have at the end of Reclamation Road Layout, Port Harcourt, Rivers State by a deed of sublease executed by Odoh Holdings and. ibeto Energy Development Ltd when he only had 7.9 hectares of the said land.

Count 2 states that the defendants obtained N2.5bn from their victim as consideration for a non-existent 14.1 hectares of land while count 3 claims that they forged certain documents

Plea bargain means he won't pay the balance but that's not the situation here. Collect the deposit, free him a bit so he can sell what he can to pay the balance.

How has plea bargain stopped politicians from stealing? Which useless progress is being made or will be made? Even your senate president has a case with the efcc. After every tenure govs are hounded by the efcc. Look at betta edu. Look at the minister for interior. I can go on and on calling names. And this is the same plea bargain that they are allowed as a means of escape. Anyway you people are not ready. Rich men and politicians are stealing your common wealth and leaving you to suffer but you are ok with this rubbish they are doing and claiming it is small small. At this rate of pampering do you think you will see good roads and good power supply, access to healthcare etc in your lifetime?
