Charles Idahosa, a former commissioner for information in Edo state, says Godwin Obaseki, governor of the state, has not shown gratitude to those who helped him secure a second term in office.

Idahosa, who moved with the governor from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2020, said this in a chat with TheCable.

There were reports that Idahosa and his supporters are planning to return to the APC. He, however, said he is still consulting with his supporters on his next move.

“It is no longer news that I am not on the same page with Obaseki. He has shown a lot of ingratitude not to me and my supporters alone but to all those who helped him. He is on his own now,” Idahosa said.

I was expecting to hear him say that the governor is grossly underperforming but that's not the case. He either wasn't giving appointment or contract and because of that, the governor is ungrateful. Nigeria my country.

The problem of these politicians (and Nigérians at large) is that they always feel entitled to state money because they helped a politician win an election. Tomorrow, the same people will turn around and say that the governor did nothing.

When Amaechi was the governor of Rivers State and visited Ogu for his town hall meeting. One local told him he never rewarded him for working to ensure Amaechi became the governor.

Amaechi asked the man, "If I start rewarding everyone who worked for my emergence as governor, what will be left for the development of Rivers State?" The man couldn't answer him.
