First Ever Physics Textbook Written In Igbo Language By An Ebonyi Man Is Finally Out (Photos) The First ever Physics textbook written by an Ebonyi man, Maazi Ogbonnaya Okoro in Nigerian Language (Igbo) is finally out. Maazi Ogbonnaya made this known on Wednesday via his Facebook page. According to him, "Over the years, I have read so many threats facing the Igbo and how it will go extinct. This motivated me to embark on this project that seemed unattainable, for science subjects to be taught in Igbo. I started from Physics. I said I would do it, and I DID IT." "This book is designed in a way that one without formal education can understand Physics. It's needed in all libraries, schools, homes and for individual use." A copy of the book goes for ₦9,500. Just see how Igbophobic rabid animals would wail like a frustrated banshee,as if the commendable deed is the cause of their domestic and public woes,as if it's the cause of Ebin Pa wa Syndrome currently ongoing in the land. Lol! Anyways the guy did a marvelous job in production of a textbook in Igbo language.More should be made in Igbo language. Likewise in Hausa and Yoruba languages.These three languages are official languages alongside English. India produces her textbooks in Hindustani and English. Hmm.. Am trying to wrap my head around how I wud understand simple laws of motion if someone were to explain it in my dialect. It just seems weird in a way.... Like it cud even be more difficult. I say this cos aside the normal English vocabulary in physics, words such as velocity, mass, momentum etc cud make things complex. And how many people can read their language on paper properly? Very very Good! But I have a question. How exactly were you able to translate strong words like Thermodynamics, Flux, Momemtum, Volt meter, Potentiometer, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope and so on? Does our languages(Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba) have them? Also, CAN SOMEONE TELL THE FG TO CHANGE OUR OFFICIAL LANGUAGE FROM "ENGLISH" TO "NATIVE LANGUAGE"? Let every region have their language that they'll communicate in that language. And then English will be our second language. Except Abuja tho |
