A yet-to-be-identified male adult died after an electric cable drum fell on him at Ojo-Igbede Road in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

He said the corpse had been deposited at the morgue while the investigation is ongoing.

Hundeyin said: “The corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy and preservation. An investigation is ongoing.”

The incident reportedly happened on Thursday while a forklift was lifting armoured cable drums.

“Incidentally, one of the cable drums disconnected and fell on a passerby, who was said to be pressing his phone while walking, and he gave up the ghost on the way to hospital. The scene was visited by detectives of the Ilemba-Hausa division, and inquiries were made,” a police source disclosed.

Meanwhile, the company’s owner has been taken into custody for questioning.

The key point here is he was pressing phone while walking and probably put earpeice to block his ear. This is very common in lagos,. It is avoidable death. Why cant he be cautious of things going on around him? RIP to him.

Very sad. Someone that left home to fend for the day and go back home. May this type of death never befall me.

Walking around while not paying attention is dangerous but electrical components falling on you as you walk is inexcusable.

RIP now he can't use the phone anymore...It better to keep your phone inside your pocket while working on the road except u received a call..so that you can be alert of your surroundings..pressing phone while walking on the road is very dangerous....

Yall didn't take the driver of the said forklift in for questioning, na person wey no dey there nor drove the said forklift or anything una arrest for questioning
