INEC Disowns Labour Party National Convention by nairalandkachy1(op): 7:27am On Mar 28, 2024
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disowned Wednesday’s Labour Party (LP) National Convention in Anambra.

Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, said this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.

Oyekanmi said that the conduct of the convention was not monitored by INEC, declining to state further why it was not monitored.

NAN, however, reports that the LP had on Tuesday shifted the convention from Umuahia in Abia to Nnewi, Anambra State.

Speaking on the change in venue, Mr Kehinde Edun, the LP National Legal Adviser, told newsmen that the party had duly informed INEC about the change in venue and date.

“No, it is holding in Anambra. Nnewi, to be precise, not Umuahia in Abia State again. In fact, Umuahia was not even the first venue we chose. Benin was the first choice before we changed to Umuahia and now Nnewi.

“So, we are at liberty to pick any venue of our choice. We only need to inform INEC about the change in venue and time,” Edun said.

Section 82(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022 states that political parties shall give INEC at least 21 days notice of convention, congress, conference or meeting.

This includes the convention or meeting convened for the purpose of “merger” and electing members of its executive committees, other governing bodies or nominating candidates.

So many mentions just to insult me and insult APC. These Obidient folks feels any one who is not for them is APC.
When you point out a wrong doing they don't even provide superior points to out out a defence. They just go about raining insults.
Makes me wonder.........

Their LP just gave the 2027 presidential ticket to Obi, same people who complain about Democratic process in PDP. Obi left PDP because he felt his here being twisted and the process wasn't Democratic, At least PDP had a primary election and voted, rigged or not, they voted.
The party crying for free and fair national elections are SELECTING a candidate.
But APC is their problem

Tinibu using inec and nlc in trying to destabilize the LP. May God help them emerge victorious at the end of the day.

But why is Apc and it’s agents fighting to destroy Labour Party

Peter Obi and labour are not threat to Apc Government and the President..

Fighting the so inconsequential is adding value to it..

If Tinubu and Apc are serious .. let them tidy the country and stop all this useless jokes ..

Toh

Same convention already agreed on reserving the Labour party presidential ticket for Peter Obi in 2027.

Reserving a ticket for one person when he his not the only one having ambition to be the party flagbearer. That's pure tyranny .

Labour party is actually the total opposite of what they claimed they are .

The good thing is, Nigerians are now aware about Obi , LP and their supporters. Everything about them are fake.

Am I surprised, NO, Peter Obi never believed in democracy to start with. While the likes of President Tinubu was fighting for the return of democracy during Abacha's period, Obi was being appointed by Abacha as one of the board members in Lagos port. Out of the 8 years Obi served as Anambra state governor, local government election wasn't conducted for good 7 years, the last year self was due to court order.

This is the Peter Obi some people want to force on Nigerians. Even God forbids bad thing like Peter Obi as Nigeria president.

LP executives are not up to 20 members yet the acclaimed saviour from Jupiter couldn't put the party together, same messiah that want to govern 200m people.

Tueh

Fingers must be pointed. Self distancing from one's actions must be observed. Continue blaming others for your woes.

Only a failure blame others for his misfortunes

Well, I'm not surprised, what else do you expect from a party of strange bedfellows?

This is a party whose chairman imposes himself over members and share party's tickets to the highest bidder.

It's equally a party that it's ideological roots is different from the desperate tickets hunters they shared their tickets to.

It's the only party where the chairman needs to be heavily bribed to substitute qualified candidates to his kinsmen.

Labor party has been hijacked by a section of the country who are known to be unpatriotic and wishes the country failure because they lost election.

Labor party is on self destruct, why is inec trying to save them?

How is this Tinubu or INEC's fault? The notice was too soon as against the minimum of 21 days in the law.
