UPDATE: The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation on Wednesday targeting unroadworthy vehicles across the state.

- Over 50 rickety commercial vehicles, focused on vehicles that failed to meet the prescribed minimum roadworthiness standards as seen in it's brakes, wipers, lights, shocks and tyres, as stipulated in the State's Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

- Enforcement Locations; Costain, Ikorodu road, Ojuelegba, Yaba, Oyingbo, Ikeja, and Ojodu Berger, the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs).

- Some defiant commercial vehicle drivers resisted to be apprehended and in the cause of their high headedness damaged the patrol vans belonging to the VIS command.

VIO Boss Engr. Fashola further reiterated that the VIS will continue to uphold its commitment to conducting fair and unbiased enforcement drives, urging all vehicle owners and operators to prioritize regular maintenance and adherence to roadworthiness standards to ensure the safety of all road users.

They are not serious.

If they are serious, they should go to Adeniji bus stop ontop the bridge as we speak , they will pack more than 50 buses this afternoon right on the spot. U will see those rickety buses loading Ikorodu, Mowe-Ibafo , Berger etc .

The market women load the buses' boot full with their wares while passengers are huddled together on the seats. While u are driving on third mainland bridge u will see them posing serious danger to other road users simply cos they can't even drive at the required speed on a highway

Going by their said standard more than 50% of public bus need to be removed from the Road then.
But truth be told some public drivers are not trying at all. Ordinary wiper and side mirror some will refuse to buy

Another news to confirm that Nigeria will work again. Gradually, we are getting there. Life needs to be given a value by setting standards Oyo state needs to follow suit. Many of the buses being used for commercial stuff cannot be used to transport goats from one location to another in South Africa, because they have standards.

it's a good development, most of the vehicles in the pictures attached to this post are death traps, I personally will never enter such vehicles for any reason, I still find it difficult to believe that Nigeria the self acclaimed giant of africa still have this type of shity vehicles plying our road day and night

Is good but some have lost their job ….. I will advise them to relocate to Ibadan… those vehicles are far better than most of the vehicles in Ibadan…
what did I just read, did you just say this buses are better than most the vehicles used for transportation in ibadan? And people still enter them? The government really needs to do something about this death traps plying Nigeria roads, no Nigeria state deserve this type of bus except if they will used solely for transporting animals or farm product

Only removal with no plan of how to get more buses on the road. So 50 bus drivers and 50 conductors have been rendered jobless now. We only know how to destroy without any palliative or replacement plans.

Quite commendable. Most of these drivers are fully aware of the condition of their faulty vehicles. Yet they will risk the lives of their passengers by putting such vehicles on the road for commercial purposes. It's time to get rid of them on our roads for sanity and the preservation of lives.

70% of Lagos danfo are not suppose to be used for human transportation.

They are only fit for transporting cow meats from slaughter house, and gathering feeds for animals

The government will fix the buses while they drive, destroy and take it back to the government's garage for free fixing.
