Democracy In Senegal: Lessons For Nigeria And Other West African Countries, By Auwal Ibrahim Musa At a time when the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was already battling with the management of the fall of democracy in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Republic, the announcement of the postponement of the presidential election in Senegal by President Macky Sall came as a shocker and signalled fear of a further fall of democracy across the sub-region of Africa.https://saharareporters.com/2024/03/29/democracy-senegal-lessons-nigeria-and-other-west-african-countries-auwal-ibrahim-musa nlfpmod

Imagine! Nigeria being schooled in act of acceptable electioneering, constitutional and democratic processes. The unfolding Senegal presidential election just demonstrated to the world what it means to conduct and win a democratic election. Political power was not grabbed, snatched and ran away with by electoral thugs as was the case in Nigeria. A big shame, disgrace and monumental embarrassment on the giant of Africa.

-This represents a wake-up call to youths in Nigeria and ECOWAS to unite above identity politics to positively affect changes in their country’s politics." Daniel Bwala, Reno Omokri, Adamu Garba, Yahaya Bello etc would be rooting for corrupt geriatrics while their leadership of tomorrow will continue to take the back stage. nlfpmod |

Who told you Nigerian polithiefcians want to learn a lesson? |

Racoon:You have to know that Senegal politics is very similar to Nigeria's. The newly elected president was in prison by the current president just to prevent him from winning, and was only released 10 days to the election. That cannot even happen here in Nigeria. And to add to it: it's not only when the opposition or a young person won an election that the election is free and fair. |

RenaissanceGuy:It cannot happen in Nigeria?.. naso una just like spewing trash about your country. how did OBJ become president? |

All this nonsense talk over emotional excitment. You said more than this after election in Zambia and then what happened after?, in Liberia, people were celebrating, killing ram and then what happened after 4years?. Una don start again, we will be here after 4years. |

Putindbutt:You mean Tinubu can imprison Atiku or Obi on frivolous or politically-motivated charges during election season and then release him 10 days to election?? Go back and re-read what I wrote. |

RenaissanceGuy:Even Putin jailed Navalny and killed him a few weeks to election yet you dey worship Putin as hero but open mouth to condemn nigeria. we know that military jailed OBJ and they also brought him out to contest and win. therefore, you speak out of sheer ignorance in a bid to denigrate your country. |

Putindbutt:What's your problem? I actually praised Nigeria, saying that what took place in Senegal where the opposition was imprisoned during the election cannot happen in Nigeria and here you're talking about denigrating Nigeria. |
