Government is talking about removing power subsidy when DISCOs are posting profits of N1trn.

APC is just out to punish the masses while feeding fat from our common wealth

Is revenue not different from profit

They are not cashing out. That business is not profitable. They are owing banks billions of naira and the government is even helping to pay part of our power bills. The government shouldn't renew their licences. Every state should start generating and transmitting its power unaided.
Are you working with them?

We are our own worst enemy, they have crippled alot of businesses with their epileptic power supplies yet they are smiling to the bank

Oga, discos are not your problem.

For godsake, Nigeria generates a paltry 3500 megawatts ... what can that do for a country of nearly 250m people ?

This happens because there is no repercussion for excess billings

They increased the tariffs and reduced the power supply

All we can do is grumble and endure

When the power minister is being gifted N300m car by the TCN who suppose to oversee that the common man is protected.

The amount of frozen foods and other perishable items that got destroyed in the past few days will be hundreds of billions of naira nationwide. I kid you not.

This is unfair and unjust.

Reason why people move to saner climes where they get value for every penny spent.

How did you determine that the DISCOs are billing customers for electricity that they didn’t supply to generate the revenue reported

It needs to be removed. So we can hold them responsible.
Subsidy sounds like embezzlement to me

@Nairaland1, you said the DISCOs don't make a profit.
This is why Nairaland can't make progress because of thousands of inexperienced opinionists.

Thieves...

They will collapse the grid then use it to cash out because they all know the masses will still pay even without seeing the light..

Is the multiple grid collapse within said period not enough testament to the fact? Let's not celebrate mediocrity.

And you don't know that Discos are still rejecting that paltry 3500MW? Was that not what we had been managing before the recent persistent blackout for the past three or four weeks?

Paltry 3500 megawatts daily X 365 = 1,277,500 per year
Revenue 1,000,000,000,000.00
Revenue / megawatts = 782,778.86 per Megawatt

In the US, if you have cheap electricity, say 10 cents per KWH, 1 MWH is $100 If you have expensive electricity, say 20 cents per KWH, 1 MWH is $200
