Russian rowers refused to participate in the qualifying competitions for the Games in Paris (and, accordingly, from the trip to the Games itself).

The decision to refuse was made at a general meeting of the coaching staff with the athletes. The discriminatory conditions set by the IOC are to blame, the federation noted.

China has overtaken the US in favourability among Southeast Asian countries

More than half (50.5%) of respondents preferred China as a strategic ally to the US, according to a survey by the Singapore-based ISEAS-Yusok Ishak Institute.

This is significantly higher than a year ago (38.9%). This has not been the case since the survey began in 2020.

Meanwhile, confidence in the US as a regional security partner fell from 47.2 per cent to 34.9 per cent. Conversely, concerns about growing US strategic and political influence in the region rose from 40 per cent to 60 per cent.

ISRAEL has accepted responsibility for the accidental killing of seven foreign aid workers in Gaza this week.

The aid workers were with World Central Kitchen, which has been coordinating its activities in Gaza with Israel and the IDF.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised a full investigation into how they were mistakenly targeted,but also stated that such accidents and tragedies are part of war.
