According to Forbes, there are 2,781 individual billionaires globally.

It labelled 2024 as a year for the planet’s billionaires, whose fortunes continue to swell as global stock markets shrug off war, political unrest and lingering inflation.

Forbes said, “There are now more billionaires than ever: 2,781 in all, 141 more than last year and 26 more than the record set in 2021. They’re richer than ever, worth $14.2tn in aggregate, up by $2tn from 2023 and $1.1tn above the previous record, also set in 2021. Two-thirds of the list’s members are worth more than a year ago; only one-fourth are poorer.

“Much of the gains come from the top 20, who added a combined $700bn in wealth since 2023, and from the U.S., which now boasts a record 813 billionaires worth a combined $5.7tn. China remains second, with 473 (including Hong Kong) worth $1.7tn, despite weak consumer spending and a real estate bust that helped wipe out $200bn in wealth and knocked 89 billionaires from the ranks. India, which has 200 billionaires (also a record), ranks third.”

“In all, 265 fresh faces are new to the World’s Billionaires. The richest of all is Italy’s Andrea Pignataro, a former Salomon Brothers bond trader behind financial software firm ION Group. He’s worth an estimated $27.5bn.”

According to th magazine, other notable newcomers include the founder of the Raising Cane’s fast-food chain Todd Graves ($9.1bn); Maggie Gu, Molly Miao and Ren Xiaoqing ($4.2bn each); three cofounders of fast-fashion giant Shein; iconic high-heel designer Christian Louboutin ($1.2bn); and Elon Musk pal, and Tesla and SpaceX investor, Antonio Gracias ($1.1bn).

It stated that its “World’s Billionaires list” was a snapshot of wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from March 8, 2024.

Show me Otedola, this is one of Azudialor investments

Otedola owns 78% stake in Geregu power. Geregu is currently valued at N2.5trillion, out of which N1.9trillion belongs to Otedola. If you convert that to naira, that's about $1.3bn networth.

I haven't added his shareholdings in First bank. He is also the majority (individual) shareholder in First bank

Lol, billionaires indeed. Crooks that connived with military and civilian rulers to corner the country’s resources are claiming billionaires. In other places, we see billionaires with patented techs, inventions or unique products to their names. People that made lives easier for everyone and got rich out of it. Not these crooks that stole the commonwealth and made the lives of 200 million people miserable.

The funny thing is that, the same impoverished masses they made miserable would be here glorifying them out of ignorance and primitive tribalism.

You all deserve the Hobbesian lives you’re living in that hellhole.

As much as I don't like getting involved in arguments like these, pls let me put something straight to you, Aitto, rain oil, Nestoil even Air Peace don't compare them to Otedola. They all came through him i mean those in the oil and gas sector. If you into the downstream sector and you ask who is the King of Ago then you would understand who that Otedola guy is. Even the Dantata (MRS acquiring Texaco) they can't stand otedole. Author Eze is rich, and the seplat guy is cool but I feel there more richer igbo men you didn't mention but don't compare, aitto, rain Oil, Nestoil oil to otedola. It's like comparing Zuma Rock to Kilimonjaro. No offence just my view.
Mention his business you are here writing long epistle, we know Dangote and those wealth men I mentioned the investments they created you are here mentioning Otedola you guys use media to create, we all know how Obasanjo made Otedola through forcing the major shareholder of AP to resigned, that is what Otedola is good at he tried that with Elumelu he placed him where he belong

It isn't easy to make one billion naira talk more of one billion dollar, which is over one trillion naira.

As for me, that forbes list is a who is who of who stole the most from the poor.
Maybe the tech billionaires are better, but not by much. They skirt taxes and bribe politicians so much that they ensure the continued exploitation of workers and the environment. Then they turn around and replace all those workers with gpt.

Billionaires should be pariahs to be pitied not celebrities to be worshipped, with the exception of the minority that prove otherwise
