Reason for the rejection of Ukrainian grains by Poland and a few other European countries is pricing - Ukrainian grains are relatively cheap and by extension local farmers in those concerned countries are being hurt economically. https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/why-have-some-eu-countries-banned-ukraine-grain-imports-2023-04-17/ 1 Like |

The Buhari administration made a grave mistake by banning food importation for local production. Even developed nations do import foodstuff heavily. If stopping food import is the solution to boosting local production, how come we are worse than before in terms of food production? |

Seefinish: No doubt ... wasn't that what Zelensky rep came for? We are importing corn from a country at war when we can be growing our own. At what cost?... invest that money locally and we can grow and harvest it on our own. Why we don't?.... because it was long decided by the leading European nations ... the US and Canada ..... that Africa .ust not be allowed to be self sufficient in foods. The crops that are allowed to grow in abundance are ones that are needed by them .... e.g cocoa. Maize no ... it must be imported from Europe/USA/ Canada. In these times we need to ban the importation of these agricultural products and be self sufficient. The technology to manipulate our DNA has moved ahead from doing so through "mRNA vaccines" as in the COVID-19 shots .... to manipulating our DNA through crops.... and who is ahead of the game?... Bill Gates. Population reduction is still the name of the game. |

Kudos to president Tinubu, he should import all the food items to Nigeria, so as to reduce there price, since they decided to hoard it and sell it outside Nigeria. Our able presido, please import all the food items into Nigeria. When you bring it into Nigeria, the price will crash and the hoarders will cry very well, as Nigerians have been crying. This is a good news. Federal government should start farming program, recruit people to work in it and monitor it, let the farm be very big in all the states in Nigeria. |

Originalsly:All the ones they invested, where is it? They have sold it outside Nigeria. Federal government should do farming themselves and monitor it. Nigerians are wicked, since the Buhari regime, he gave farmers all they needed, after giving them, they refused to sell it in the market, but choose to sell it to other countries and hoard the rest. Federal government should do the farming themselves or bring in Chinese companies that will monitor it. Nigerian farmers are wicked, moreover bokoharam and Fulani herdsmen, Kidnappers are disturbing Nigerians. For now, the best thing is to import food, our bushes are not safe or deploy Nigeria army to the farm. Safety first 2 Likes |

Government really needs to prioritize and bring marketing boards back. When you prioritize consistent profit pricing and offtake agreement between farmers and buyers, everybody wins. Farmers, governments, bankers, insurance companies, exporters and others. Guaranteed profitable business for farmers, less risky business model for banks, easier for them to price loan risk with less defaults. Increase in export products due to surplus harvest from farmers. Higher foreign exchange income for fx stability and other benefits. Government really need to prioritize this and bring it back. |
