That's a function of resource dependency, not religion. Any country that is heavily resource dependent and isn't using the resources to make goods and services is going to be prone to violence at any time. Yes even Saudi.

One of the most brutal wars fought was the Yugoslavian wars of the 1990s which happened in a country that was nominally atheist. Even the Muslims living there were secular by lifestyle.
