The rumour of the likely coming together of Peter Obi and Nasir Elrufai under one ticket to contest the 2027 presidential election has been flying around since yesterday and, as expected, has caused apprehension in the camp of supporters of Aso Rock occupiers because they know such a ticket would be the dealbreaker.

Now, because of this apprehension, some people have constituted themselves into the mouthpiece and spokespersons of Elrufai. So, I was not surprised to read some rhetorics like, “Elrufai will never align with Obi”, “Elrufai is too big to be Vice to Obi”[/b], and other silly comments.

But we know the Elrufais - both the senior Elrufai and his sons. We know how erratic they can be. We know how quickly they respond to issues or anything that concerns them or their family. We saw it when Bello quickly fired back at Uba Sani after he accused his father of leaving Kaduna in debt.

But with this rumour they’ve been uncharacteristically quiet. Why? It’s nearly 24hrs that the rumor has been going on and neither the father nor the children has said a word.

Could it be that while self-appointed Elrufai spokespersons are online talking trash, that the man is truly seeking an alliance with Peter Obi having seen how far the Obi went in the last election that it took the shutting down of IREV to stop him?

Peter Obi is not worth it and he (El Rufai) knows. In the class of high quality politicians and those with capacity to run and handle presidential positions, Peter Obi will come a distant hundred.

Any ticket you see Peter Obi on it, it will fail even before the election starts. It is only his online pool of bandits who troll everyone that will take him serious. Maybe they're using him to catch cruise.

No politician is hated by the North though a conservative society. It's the elites who seek to use regional and religious sentiments as a campaign strategy. Obi was well campaigned for over here even without bags of money flying up and down. The Muslim community played a great role in his six million votes. They supported him with funds, mobilization, contacts and planning so his tour of the North in recent times is a thank you visit. If the North is convinced about him they will wholesomely go for him.

But it took the combined criminal state capture of Tinubu, INEC, through the outright disregard of our constitution, electoral act, INEC guidelines and procedures, and shutting down of the election result viewing portal IREV to conjure up numbers for Tinubu to defeat Peter Obi.
