[/sup][sup]God bless Reuben Abati for the wonderful piece. It shows he really understand what happened in Edo state. From the on-set Obaseki gave so much responsibilities to shaibu. He even made him in charge of revenue in the state. He never saw him as a spare tyre but as a member of his team. Obaseki made Shaibu so powerful. Obaseki was relating with his deputy with an open mind not knowing that his deputy was working against him from behind. He was using his position to negotiate deals with APC. Even when people were telling Obaseki what was happening he refused to believe because he trusted Shaibu so well. The final straw that broke the carmel's back was when Shaibu took Obaseki to court on allegation of impeachment. That was when Obaseki believed what people have been saying. One thing I want people to know today is that, it was Shaibu who betrayed Obaseki and not the other way round. Even when Obaseki was asked to drop Shaibu as his deputy and pick a PDP man in 2016, he said it's either Shaibu or no deal. Shaibu betrayed the trust and confidence Obaseki had in him. He mistook Obasekis meekness for weakness. The team of lawyers are just after his money. They now Shaibu can not win anything in the court. If shaibu is wise which i doubt he is, he should not waste his money going to court. |

It's a fight to the end for both Obaseki and Shaibu. I don't think the game is over yet. I think it's just the beginning. Shaibu wouldn't want to go into oblivion just like that. Words has it that he's making moves to reconcile with Oshiomhole, nothing is impossible. Oshiomhole will play the prodigal son and father game with Shaibu and use it to weaken Obaseki. Obaseki on the other hand would want to use all the paraphernalia of his office to take Ighodalo to the government House. Will it be that easy for him? Will he be able to use his incumbent power to stave off the forces from Abujat alking about Wike, Oshiomhole, the three Senators reping Edo, Tinubu, etc? Let's keep fingers crossed and be observing how the game unfolds. |

Philip Shuaibu proved himself to be a very naive and dull human who couldn't hide his lack of intelligence which was promptly capitalized upon by Obaseki to "use and dump" him having utilized his usefulness. He should have noticed and known that from the inception of the Obaseki administration, Asue Ighodaro had been in the Obaseki's circle and duly been groomed for this season just as Godwin himself had been groomed by the Oshiomole administration. Philip presented himself as a thug and was rightly used for that purpose. |

Chinjo2:Your analysis reeks of prejudice. So, for Shaibu to show interest in gov's seat is what you termed betrayal" Shaibu started hobnobbing with APC , when he had seeing clear handwriting of his principal, that he didn't favor not only him, but every other person they can called insiders in Edo politics. |

Shuaibu really bleeped up big time for using his position to negotiate with that evil and killing killing party called APC. |

Nigeria's own denocracy is unconventional; it's dirty and unexemplary. Too much power on the Governors and the President and this isn't right! Knowing this already, Shaibu should have treaded carefully. But I guess his ambition blinded him to caution, and now see where he is! |

This was when I predicted Phillip's current predicament. You cannot be a Nigerian politician and be as foolish as Shuaibu. You need to be strategic and at the same time silent, If possible, deny some of your moves and dissociate from some people publicly. It's called Politics for a reason. Now Shuaibu will never amount to anything in the Nigerian political sphere, his ambition is dead on arrival. The only way out for him is to go back to the grassroots and do some rigorous politics... He needs to play the victim card with his grassroots people and pretend that an injury to one is an injury to all... Then after that, he can go ahead to pick a Senatorial ambition. That is the only bet for him. Otherwise, he should just go back to Accounting.

Lesson learnt. People always forget so quick especially where they are coming from and who contribute to put them on the limelight. Little wonder, when you help poor people rise to a pinnacle, they feel they have arrived and they later find a way to destroy their benefactors. |

First of all, there has never been any governor Vs deputy governor battle in Nigeria were the deputy came out triumphant. The lesson to this is never mess with the boss. I expected that Oga Philip will go back to the national assembly, consolidate there and come back to stake a claim to the gubernatorial ticket. |

Philip has only himself to blame, he was trying to upset the political establishment of rotational power in the state. It had been agreed that Edo central should have the position of governor, I expected him to have supported that decision wholeheartedly and bid his time, he was young and had time on his side. He would have been in the good books of the powers that be and amassed the resources he would need to pursue his ambitions.but sadly he allowed greed to consume him. Oshomole also tried to upset the rotational system in APC , but he failed and has since fallen in line. The next governor is coming from Edo central with either APC or PDP. Labor party candidate is just wasting his money and time. |
