AlexBells: The Niger Delta people wanted their own Region and had even started their own Agitation for a separate Region ir Country before Ojukwu started his own Azikiwe had promised before independence to carry out a referendum for the Northern Western and Eastern Region Minorities including Kwara but they only carried out the West one but failed to do the others At Aburi Ojukwu refused for Eastern Region Minorities request for a separate Region to be even discussed and that led to them doing everything they could to sabotage Aburi because even though they owned half of the Eastern Region they were left out of the Aburi agreement That was the main Stumbling block of the Aburi agreement The Eastern Region Minorities rejected Aburi as being against their Own interests and worked against it. Was that a lie? Otherwise tell us exactly how Aburi was in the interests of the Eastern Region Minorities 2 Likes 1 Share |

rinzaugustine: My brother even Igbo Politicians are not allowing free and fair elections in our region the blame goes round. Abia PDP did not allow free and fair election for 24 year same thing in other states. See Hope Uzodimma of Imo state over his dead body to allow free and fair election. But there is hope we shouldnt give up. |

festacman: You are very stvpid for bringing Ikwerre into this with your false accusation possibly fed to you by your shameless and thieving parents. I’m sure you are the first in your lineage to ever step foot in Portharcourt, but you come here to talk about non existent abandoned property taken by Ikwerre. Go and continue doing your inferior or superior people and estate fortune with your fellow idiotic and shallow minded Ibos and leave Ikwerre people out of your madness. Very smelly idi0t you are. 1 Like 1 Share |

paramakina202:Yes they have been rigging local government elections since 1999 but the most important one which is the governorship and house of assembly is outside their power as federal INEC conducts those ones. If it was free and fair a nuisance like uzodimma would not even win local government elections |

festacman:You were told lies by your forebears who hated Ikwerre particularly because of the Ikwerre people general stand that they have no historical ties with the Igbos. The Igbos see this as hatred and for that reason resent the ikwerres. Come to Ph and make an inquiry about what you alleged. Ikwerres had no hand in abandoned property. It was a federal government policy even headed by David Mark. Only those in the upper echelon of government benefitted from that. Disabuse your mind of your primordial hatred for the Ikwerres because of this. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Nigerians, when are we going to get over this issue, every time we keep digging up invents if sixty years ago. The truth is that we need to move on because no amount of repetition will change an already formed opinion. The yorubas believe that Awolowo did not betray igbos and not even Ojukwu waking up from dead to debunk it will change their stand while the igbos believe that Awolowo betrayed them and even if Awo himself should wake from the dead to narrate his own part of the story, igbos will not believe him. Seeing that the above is true, why are we disturbing ourselves by always digging up these stories to debate ? Are we not tired of all these ? |

Objectivist04: Well said on this needlessness of raking up of old issues. Just to tag on to your post though, Ojukwu is on record as saying he understands why Awolowo did not pull Ala Yoruba out of Nigeria as he would have done the same in his shoes and has no bitterness towards him as a result. There is a video on the internet to that effect. |

aswani:Well, I am not here to debate that, my concern is that for the past 10 years that I joined this forum, there is no single year or every six months that we won't see this topic on nairaland, likewise 1966 coup but after all said and done, we will only end up insulting ourselves as nobody will be convinced from either side, so why can't we move on Tomorrow FFK will say his own and it will grace the front page and we will start all over again. For how long shall we continue to run within a circle. ? . In this country pinions have already been shaped and trying to convince anyone is like pouring water on a stone - it doesn't penetrate . |

DMerciful: Chief Obafemi Awolowo committed suicide only in your flat head and hate filled mind. Sane people with functioning brain are already aware with fact , that he dead a peaceful death in his home. That is why you have got no proof to justify your claim except propaganda which your poor parents ( the few remnants and unfortunate survivals of ojukwu's needly war) passed across to you. If people like you can be confused and convinced by kanu to believe that buhari was cloned, nothing with stop you from believing that chief Awolowo actually took poison. Even ojukwu that led over 3 million igbos to die in a senseless war didn't take poison If I may ask you, what did they tell you made him took poison? 1 Like |

bennybuhari: I blame the military top echelon that after the rebels surrendered and the war ended, they did not line up all the rebel commanders and generals, tie them to a barrel and execute them. After that, bill Biafra the entire cost of war. They needed bullets in their forehead, not rescue and recovery. The war was an act of rebellion and mutiny, it had to be treated with strict military protocol. |

Whalis: Historical ties? I don't know of any historical tie between the Abakiliki man, the Nsukka man, the Ngwa man, the Onitsha man, the Abrirba man, the Nkanu man. Yet you call all of them Igbos? Why? This has got nothing to do with historical tie. All these people speak various dialects of a parent language called Igbo, they practice a similar culture, and that is why they are called Igbo. There is no difference between them and any Ikwerre, except for denial. The Ikwerre will say "Omeneli", which is the seat of traditions and custom, while someone from Imo will say 'Omenala', Enugu will say 'Omenani' same as Ebonyi, while us in Anambra will say 'Omenana'. No matter how you say it, everyone will still know what you are talking about 2 Likes |
