All the Nigeria state governors should put their acts together and stop acting after incident that could have been prevented

These regulations are already in place sir. This is merely a refresher because penalties will follow soon.

If you don't know how to swim, don't go near water. Water no get enemy but at the same time large water is not your friend if you don't know how to swim.

Even if you know how to swim, large water isn’t your friend.

‘Large water’ and swimming pool aren’t the same

That is very responsive!

Lagos is always the first to enact meaningful laws and advisories. Other states should emulate this immediately.
even DELTA state where John pope died has never released any statement

It has been happening but they don't care. But because Fawaz was involved and the negative publicity, they remembered the regulation that has been in place since 2021.

What do you want the government to do?

This shouldn't be issued as advisory but as a policy or as a law and they should enforce it.

It is an advisory, warning public swimming facilities to adhere to the Lagos State Swimming Pool Regulations of 2021.

The Lagos State Swimming Pool Regulations can be enforced.

You can issue an advisory about a law. That is what is happening here.

Good one if they adhere strictly to it. It's one thing to make laws in Nigeria, it is another thing to implement, monitor and evaluate the passed laws if they are achieving the set goals/aims. Implementation, monitoring and evaluation stage is where Naija dey get am very wrong

The mother of all advisory is don't go near water of you can't swim.

Did Junior Pope drown in Lagos?
What has Delta state and Anambra that is in close proximity to the matter done?

We should learn to encourage the government (State or Federal) when they do well; in this case Lagos state.
Then criticize constructively when they do badly, in this case Delta state.

What kinda question is this? It’s clear you didn’t get his point cos this your question is completely off point. He insinuated the government cares or acts only when the elites are affected as was the case with fawaz….Why did the Lagos government not take this serious all this while?

What do you want them to do?

They already have regulations in place. The accidents might be happening every day, but many go untold, so the government can only react when once in a while one incident becomes news. The government then refers people to the regulations.

You don't expect government to be monitoring beaches and public swimming pools every minute, do you?
