This shouldn't even be up for argument.

Exams have always been fixed on odd days depending on situation of things.
You shouldn't asslick everything that makes no sense and stop being a religious bigot because we know that mumu is one

Obviously you went to school, but refused to get educated.
No educated mind reason the way you reason, what a pity.

It is actually a sensible statement.

Is a federal school bigger than its own federal government that declared a public holiday?

Would I as a Christian attend to exams on an Easter Monday that is declared as a public holiday?

Whoever thought he was bigger than the federal government, need to be humbled back to reality.

Oga stop saying nonsense. Even the university of Benin I attended, a lecturer has once set his class on Sunday morning and even set test despite the fact that he's a Christian and majority of the students were christians. I have written about 2 exams on Sunday morning when I was supposed to be in church.

You people should stop frustrating our education system with your stupid religious bigotry. This is part of the reason why this country is useless like this and doesn't want to progress bcs of senseless 260 million idiots comprising the country. Tomorrow, we start blaming ASUU and the university system for everything wrong with us. Must we bring religious politics in everything? Deborah Samuel was killed bcs she professed her faith and complained of why her class mates would turn the class academic group into a religious one. Her case was a tip of the iceberg. In 2011 when I gained admission into the university, my counterparts that went to a particular northern university to write their post UTME was slaughtered at the gate of the university while coming out from the exam. These where swept under the carpet and the non Muslim sides kept quiet for peace to reign. If it were the reverse, MURIC will set the country on fire.

My argument is simple. MURIC is wailing to seek attention and patronage and drag the FG into it's sentimental war. It's normal thing that some lecturers can set exams, tests or conduct class whenever the Bleep they want. It rather shows how proactive they are unlike some other lecturers that will come once or twice in an entire semester.

Please we shouldn't bring foolish religious politics into vital areas of the country we need to grow the country such as - education, health care, industries and development, legal systems etc. This are reasons why Nigeria is screwed and we keep shamelessly embarrassing ourselves and giving the citizens bad reputations before the comity of nations. Today Nigerians are regarded as the most hated black nation in the world. All these stupid animal behaviors are what caused them.

You obviously do not know your rights.

So you can be forgiven for misconstruing a just cause as a frustration of a system that itself is the frustration that need to be expunged.

What do you know about rights? Even part 3 of your constitution of Nigeria prescribed certain social rights for the citizens but which are not enforceable in any court.

Stop justifying nonsense. All the examples you mentioned were isolated cases not like the whole school writing the exams on that public holiday. But these were general and is not only wrong, its insensitive and most unfortunate

Vboot1:
In a statement issued on Saturday, the group's Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, described the examinations as illegal and unacceptable by any standard because they were taken on days declared as public holidays by the Nigerian Government.

An Islamic human rights advocacy group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has declared examinations taken in two universities in Enugu on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024 as illegal, null and void.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the group's Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, described the examinations as illegal and unacceptable by any standard because they were taken on days declared as public holidays by the Nigerian Government.

The group called for the cancellation of the examination and tests.

It said, "Reports reaching us from the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC) and the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu, reveal that both institutions ignored the holidays declared on Tuesday and Wednesday by the Federal Government (FG). While the former conducted examinations on Salah day, the latter held two tests on that day.

"These are acts of insubordination and outright disobedience on the part of the vice chancellors of both institutions. We expect the minister of education to take up the matter with them. Failure to call them to order will only egg them further to act arrogantly against policies and decisions of FG in future.

"It has never been heard that a university based in the Muslim-dominated North conducted an examination or test during a Christmas or Easter holiday. Some authorities in the South-East are out-Heroding Herod in their quest to persecute Muslims by all means.

“Islamophobia is becoming rampant in that zone but what is surprising is that, this time, it is coming from higher institutions where people are expected to be more liberal.

"Meanwhile we are constrained to declare both the examination and the tests taken in both universities as illegal, illegitimate, unlawful and unconstitutional. They are ultra vires, null and void.”

The organisation called on the vice-chancellors of the two schools “to ensure that no student, whether Muslim or Christian, who missed the examination or the tests is sanctioned”.

It continued, “Those events never happened. There was simply no examination. Neither was there any test because nothing of that nature is expected to happen during a properly declared holiday.

“At least there is ample evidence that the holidays were announced ahead of time and long enough for all members of the public to be fully aware.

"That examination and those two tests constitute a void, a sham, a nullity and anything built on nullity remains a nullity.

“That examination never took place in UNEC and no tests were held in the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu. That is the position of the law.
"No examination or test held in any school, polytechnic or university on a public holiday can be recognized by the law. A public holiday is holiday period for all and sundry, civil servants, teachers, lecturers and students. The law does not recognize invigilators and candidates on public holidays.

"MURIC advises the two vice-chancellors, through the deans of the erring faculties, with the active participation of the heads of departments, to instruct the lecturers to cancel the ill-conceived, bitterness-loaded and luciferous examination and tests.

“They never took place. This is the soft landing we can offer the erring lecturers, department and faculty.

"It is our fervent hope that nobody will make any attempt to massage egos because both the heads of departments and the deans of the faculties where this abnormality occurred may have to explain the reason for their dereliction of duty. Damage-control measures may be too late at that time."

Can you allow sense rule over nonsense at this
time?
Have you asked yourself,if there were Muslim student in that schools and have journeyed home for the holidays declared by the government and a test/exam was conducted in their absence and you say it is okay..
I remembered during my school days,we had this surveying lecturer who is a sabbatarian and will not fix his class on a Saturday because of his faith and fixes class on Sunday and expected us to leave church to attend..

We called his bluff and that Sunday classes ended afterwards
