If you possess in-demand skills and legally resident abroad, the sailing will be way smoother and by the way, how many people don build house for Nigeria when the Nigeria's banking data reflects that about 99% of the bank accounts holders in Nigeria get N500K and below in their accounts?

Because u have to be extra careful dealing with people and people are scared of paying alimony and child support. We all know with those terms, marriage means contract wey get expiry date aside death

Introduce that to naija system and what do u think will happen.

Settling down becomes hard, straffing anyhow becomes hard even if u can afford it.

If people were getting married like that in Nigeria we wont have thousands of women going to shiloh or northern governors organizing mass weddings. We wont have cases of side chicks or women stealing other people’s husbands 😄.

The way marriage is viewed in many countries abroad is not the same as Nigeria. In the west for example many women have chosen not to marry nor have children. Also many recent immigrants need extra time to sort papers, education etc and hence delaying marriage. In Nigeria too you can send your wife packing in case of divorce. But in abroad you can lose your assets.

So if you have built myself abroad( nice houses, cars, money in the bank , career etc) will you want to get married

It depends on where you are. Not every society values marriage like we do in Nigeria.

The cost of raising children is another deterrent. In Nigeria, one can have each mom take turns in taking care of the children, not so in the abroad. The issue isn't really marriage, but the costs involved in raising children. Also, unless one has a strong "I must marry" mentality from home, being abroad would even make most immigrants postpone marriage indefinitely. This, I believe, is more applicable to women as there is greater freedom, they earn equally, more opportunities to part-take in various activities, more ways to unwind/entertainment etc. The notion of marriage would change as the reasons now differ. The question is: why marry?
