The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has withdrawn all police officers attached to the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

DAILY POST, on Friday, gathered that the order for the withdrawal was contained in a police wireless message.

The document with reference number: “CB:4001/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.48/ 34 read in part, “IG has ordered the withdrawal of all policemen attached to His Excellency and former Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

“Acknowledge compliance and treat with utmost importance. Please, above, for your information and strict compliance.”

The Nigerian Immigration Service had earlier placed the former governor on its watchlist after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, declared him wanted in connection to an alleged case of money laundering to the tune of N80.2bn.

Better to withdraw all the Policemen Attached To the Fleeing Kogi Ex-Gov, Yahaya Bello since the policemen cannot save him from the EFCC officers.

In as much as I want EFCC to follow due process and obey the subsisting court restraining order, Yahaya Bello deserve all these and more.

A very youthful but foolish and wicked Governor who could not pay salaries as at when due and when he did, he would pay half. Yet his children attend secondary schools where tuition is paid in US dollars.

Politically speaking, he stepped on Asiwaju's toes by not accepting James Faleke to deputise him.

I love to see how this will play out in the coming days.

The police should not just at the withdrawal of the policemen but they must also be punished for obstructing another security agency from carrying out it's constitutionally assigned duties.

Based on a faulty system where some persons are above the law.

Lets not forget that one that is in power now during Jonathan time did hide a terrorist in a government facility. How much more a benefactor to a looter.

By the way can police or army search a sitting governor's or government house under our present Constitutional arrangement

So they can not be ordered to place the ex governor into custody? Since EFCC can not find him, the policemen can detain him and then EFCC can come pick him up.

This sort of stupid games need to stop

No please, they were only doing their job. They were attached to him in order to protect him. That is their job and that is what they will do until it's stated otherwise
