How are you people coping? I fell ill last week and I know it had to do with losing bodily fluids faster than I could replenish. Since I work for a private company, I obtained permission to dress leisurely. This wouldn’t have been a problem if NEPA was constant. At least air conditioning would be on frequently.

Unfortunately, we’ve no option but to cook in European suits while seated daily. Natives are not much of a relief. One still sweats profusely in them.

The government is insensitive. There should be a law to make suit optional in every office in Nigeria.

Someone may ask me why I am mentioning the government in this matter. If the government makes it constitutional for wearing of suit to be optional, workers can sue employers that make wearing of suit compulsory. Many workers do not want pensions, health insurance and tax to be deducted from their salaries but employers deduct those things because the government makes the deductions constitutionally compulsory. Do you see why I am mentioning the government here?

Africans dressing for wetin no consain them. We are without identity so we keep copying what is not ours including weather. I grew up with sunny and rainy weather, my people don de wake up to spring, summer and winter 🤡😀

Remove your jacket while at work. Most offices allow that.

If your office can ask you to always wear suit, that same company should be able to install solar.

When you open your own business you can be wearing beach wear to the office if you like

At least, 80% of your energy problem is solved without any maintenance cost or supply disruption.

If alternatives are allowed, you can still dress in clean outfits and look professional and corporate.

Where I work If you no wear suit OYO na your matter cold go kill you, our AC is from the vent. I saw this post and it seems funny to me for the fact that your environment is hot and they still want some of you to wear suit to work, no be witch craft be that

I prefer earning big in casual dress than in suit. The story of many bankers though because regular suit wearers look weird when sighted on okada or in public transport.

If you notice nowadays even Bankers no too dey wear suits unlike when I still dey with Intercontinental Bank back then.

I think Africans are beginning to make use if their heads, na all this "packaging jobs" carry am 4 head now and they don't even pay well.

My opinion is the suits dress code doesn't reflect African weather and tradition and that's why OP is complaining.

Ladies should stop wearing suits - they don't look good on them. Leave suits for men; they look perfect on us.

There are lots of beautiful corporate dresses that tailors make for ladies that make them look classy and gorgeous.

A Fundamental Pillar of Economics Is Choice and it includes your Decisions to go free of the Suits and be in casual dress, from Friday - weekends!
Or you can stay in Nigeria or JAPA to another Continent.
