I support this gesture from FG

We need mature minds in the universities not babies

Imagine a lecturer shouted at a student and the next thing is the student starting crying 😂

More reason we're having weak men in the society now

I gained admission at 17 and graduated at 20.

Juliet Beni – Age 19
At age 19, Beni completed her PhD in Psychology from University of California, Riverside. She is the daughter of UC Riverside engineering professors Susan Hackwood and Gerardo Beni. When Beni was 15 years old, she graduated with her Bachelors in Psychology. As a child, she and her sister went to Montessori preschool and then were homeschooled by both parents. Community college courses provided for Beni’s move into a four-year degree plan. During her time as a PhD student at UC Riverside, Beni was an instructor in Psychology for large health Psychology classes.

University of California, Riverside is part of the large network of world renowned states schools in the California University system. Founded in 1954, UC Riverside is ranked by U.S. News and World Report at #121 among national universities and #58 among top public schools. QS Top Universities ranks UC Riverside at #265 among universities worldwide. Like many of the universities in the University of California system, Riverside serves primarily undergraduates with the population of undergraduate students making up 88% of the school. Further, the student body at UCR is the most diverse body of students in the University of California system. Time magazine has ranked UC Riverside as one of the top universities to have success with low income students in the nation.

While Beni has completed her Phd in Psychology, She is currently a student in University of California, Irvine’s Haider program in Biomedical Science and hopes eventually to pursue her Medical Doctorate at UCLA. Her lifelong goal is to be a medical doctor. She is the youngest student to ever graduate with a PhD in the history of University of California, Irvine.

For me, all of these special cases still do not render it advisable to put a minor in a university. A university is more than just a school for the books alone. Its actually a school for life and the social interactions there are just as important. A minor is therefore ill suited for a university in my humble view. Even if he is ten times Einstein.

There is nothing wrong if a Nigerian graduates from PhD at 18 years old. We too like adult education in this country. No wonder most graduates are very unproductive. Minds already weak and stressed out. Just want to get a 8AM to 6PM job, just to keep their body going... Nothing else.

Wow. Well good for you, but I really would not recommend it for all. Uni is about more than just the books and exams.

If you want to gain admission into a unity school, you're not competing with people from other states, you're competing with students from your state of origin.

Is like u don’t know the difference between unity school and tertiary institution, are you from the north?

Hmmm good one.
I only fear desperate parents that would go extra mile to manipulate their child age 15,16,17 go turn 18 with with just another falsified birth certificate. undecided
I doubt this new law would work.

We might have to contend with a massive request for change of DOB on NIN if this is pushed through

Sir this are part of reforms. Things cannot change in a day. Small laws like this can help reduce some paramount issues. You never can tell. We in a lawless country. Weytin 15 - 16 years they find for university.

If you are not smart, do you expect other people's lives to follow the same trajectory as yours?

Very useless policy.

First attempt at 18 and probably end up getting admission at the 2nd or 3rd attempts.
Now with all the ASUU wahala, they will end up graduating at the age of 26 or 27 and then proceed to the 1 year compulsory wasteful year.
Employers of labour will now place 25 years as maximum entry age limit.

This country is indeed a joke

I honestly do not support this. So if a child graduates from secondary school at 15 and clears his/her WAEC. What the government is telling us is that if the child's parents cannot afford a private school, the child would stay idle at home for 3 years before giving university education a shot.

That's like delaying the academic advancement of that child. Very bad if you ask me.

And for the records, I finished my secondary education at the age of 15.
It's a good law!! What's the rush for?

My take is they should go for the exams from 15 and the UTME results should be valid for 5years.

That way, a candidate that clocks 18 won't have to wait till he/she clears UTME again.

It is a good law, if you are not a high achiever or have small dreams.

You think there is time to waste?
In this same life.

If a child is smart enough, why delay him?

He or She can lose track and forget everything already learnt in school before sitting for UTME.
