FCCPC Shuts Chinese Supermarket Over Discrimination In Abuja by BeeBeeOoh(op): 6:57pm On Apr 22, 2024

The Federal Competition and Consumer and Protection Commission (FCCPC), on Monday, sealed up an Abuja-based Chinese supermarket located at the China General Chamber of Commerce.

The FCCPC officials had shut the supermarket after a visit on Monday.

The commission’s officials sealed up the place after interrogating Nigerian workers at the supermarket.

On Sunday, Nigerians on social media had raised alarm over a discriminatory policy implemented by the Chinese Supermarket which restricted entry exclusively to its citizens and barred Nigerians.

Confirming the allegation, the facility manager of the complex, Shaibu Sanusi said that only Nigerians within can access the supermarket.

Wow!

Thanks to the guy that made a video about the supermarket. It is good to speak up on certain things. The guy made a good use of social media. Many Nigerians discovered the supermarket before the guy but chose to die in silence.

A proactive government would properly investigate and gather evidence and seek a court order to shut them down. But since Nigeria does not follow its laws, we just swoop in!

What if this company contests the allegations and is found to not be guilty in court? Would Nigeria not have to compensate them for loss of earnings?

Sometimes they use such place for illegal activities like storing weapons, making dynamites, rubber rice, etc. I think the government should search that place very very well for secret entrance to tunnels, hacking equipment, gun factory, monitoring gadgets, drugs etc
