CaptainFM1:You should be more open minded. OK let's assume a session starts and end in one year. Did matriculation in January at Age 17 let's say in year 2010 for clarity. 2nd year starts in January 2011 at 18 3rd year starts in January 2012 at 19 4th year starts in January 2013 at 20 Now how many months make a semester? 4 What if the school just had a brief break between semesters, that means in less than a year I can finish a session. So tell me how is it not possible to be In year one at 17 Year 2 at 18 Year 3 at 19. And year 4 at 20. Im done explaining. Believe whatever you want. Cheers. |

commyhot:Dumbasses everywhere. What skill acquisition? So you need to stop children's education because of skill acquisition? Did they put into consideration ASUU strike and how this will affect millions of Nigerian children including those currently in KG? |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 1:41pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Dialpad:16years is the norm worldwide. Are these people okay upstairs? But they have nothing to say about ASUU strikes. This will affect millions including those who are currently in KG. Why stop millions of kids and take them back by 2 years. Some will turn miscreants while waiting and lounging about instead being pre-occupied by academics. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 1:43pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Kobicove:How about ASUU who rushes to SLOW them.down with their incessant strikes? 16 is the norm worldwide and this will affect millions of children and set them backwards. Totally inconsiderate and dumb move. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 1:46pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Sirchiboy:You don't have to learn a skill in one FULL year. University students learn skills during their long holidays and make money from it. How can you set millions of students 2 years backwards?Totally unecessary and wicked. |

JERRY1925:Receive sense. What are you doing here on NL with your grey hair? The norm is 16 worldwide. ASUU strikes already draws them backwards. They enter at 16 and still finish with 1st Class at 20. Do they have to be old to attend Uni. They older the more lawless. You prefer to see them idle minded or join bad gangs instead of being pre-occupied with their studies. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 2:08pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Offpoint1:And how does starting UNI at 16 affect anyone They start at 16 and some finish with a 1st Class at 20 whilst those who are 29 sometimes finish with a pass. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 3:16pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Nazgul:This will affect millions of Nigerians including those who are just starting school. They are not too young to learn skills but are too young to study in Uni?Really?16 is the norm worldwide. The JAMB Registrar needs to seek wisdom. |

| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 3:25pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Amfem:I hope these "elders" are going to prove to us that they do not lack wisdom. 16 year olds cope well in Uni. I am a living example. If you are allowed to start driving at 16 then you are mature enough to be in University. Setting millions of children backwards by 2 years is dumb, insensitive and inconsiderate. If you think a child should go learn a skill at 16, then he should cope well in University as well. 16 is the norm worldwide. Nigeria should not prove to the world that she thinks backwards. We don't want our children roaming around for TWO whole years. It can affect their mental health. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 3:33pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Mercury12:What makes it good? How is a 16 year old allowed to drive yet deemed not mature enough to be in Uni. Dumb policy. 16year olds are mature enough for University. The Ministry Of Education should focus more on improving the Education System in Nigeria to World Standard first. ASUU strikes already set these children backwards enough. 16years old is the age worldwide. The younger they are, the smarter they are. Let Nigeria have sense abeg. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 3:34pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
integrity16:Until it affects your children. If you are allowed to drive at 16. Why should you be deemed too young to enter Uni at 16? Senseless. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 3:40pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
2023Blessed:They didn't also put strikes by ASUU into consideration. 16year olds are allowed to drive, learn skills, so how does attending University at 16 affect anyone. Most of them even do better academically than the older ones in University at the end of the day. Wasting two years of their lives for absolutely no reason. Will Nigeria ever move towards the light and away from darkness. The norm is 16 years worldwide. Let geniuses thrive and shine. Don't dim their lights. Sadists. |

thesicilian:If you can start work and drive at 16, you are mature enough to enter Uni at 16. You don't need to waste TWO years of your life learning a skill. 3 months skills fetch people money. ASUU strikes already set them.back in University. They should put that into consideration too. Let geniuses thrive and shine bright like it's done in civilized countries. Government should focus more on developing the Education System to world Standard first. That should be their goal. A 16 year old will cope 100% in Uni and they know it They should face other important issues. Lounging around for two years instead of academic preoccupation can affect their mental health. We have enough mad people roaming around already. |

Digmygold:[b]The reason for this is stated in the report, please go back and read it. Stop calling this new policy senseless, I believe this policy decision was unanimous amongst stakeholders in the industry. It is an opportunity for me to ensure my child get some form of informal education before she turned 18. Not everything is taught inside the four walls of the university. So for me, it is a welcome development. If you are angry at the policy, log on to the website of the ministry of education, you should get the Minister's contacts there, write to him to reverse the policy. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 6:12pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
integrity16:Informal Education aka Skills Acquisition can be concluded in 3months or less. Two years is a lot of time to hold down anyone's progress or academic prowess. In civilized countries 16years is the norm. This is why Nigeria is backward because people with empty heads are often placed at the helm of affairs due to "long leg syndrome". How can a 16 year old be allowed to start driving, working and learning skills yet they are deemed to young for academic pursuit in a University? You must be very shallow to think at 16 your child is incapable of being in the University and at the same time acquire skills during her long holidays. Woe betide those who are trying to force this useless policy on our children. Woe betide them and their children if they ever started University before 18 or are overseas studying. Daft policies all the time. A 16 year old will cope hundred percent. They shouldn't turn them into idle miscreants and poke their mental health. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by integrity16(m): 6:28pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Digmygold:It is my shallow thinking, not yours. When your child gets to 16, send s/he to the UK/Canada/USA for their secondary education and please stop pouring salival on my mention. I am not the one who came up with this policy, I only supported it which is within my right to do so. :- This policy has come to stay, at least for now until you are able to summon the courage to approach the ministry to reverse this. Please lay this matter to rest, don't quote me again. |

integrity16:Digital skills don't have to take two years. I hope sincerely you will.also.be set back by two years or more. In all spheres. Your children included. I am certain you are one of the political demons tormenting this country. |
| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 6:33pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
integrity16:This is a democracy not Military rule where dictatorship thrives. So nothing "comes to stay" automatically. JAMB is created by law and all amendments to the Act must be by law. You see why so many people in the helms of affairs are backward.? Lack of common knowledge. You are one of the dumb ones who just talk without thinking deep enough. Enough said I don't bandy words with nit-wits. |

| Re: FG Sets 18 Years As Minimum Entry Age Into Tertiary Institutions by Digmygold: 6:57pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
integrity16:Failures like you don't irk me. You are the bitter soul and I am certain you did not even have the opportunity to attend a University and your children are academically backwards. So you are the bitter one and will remain bitter and set back for the rest of your miserable existence. You can start work by 16 but can't start University at 16. Dumbrats everywhere. |

superjaks:What about the 32 year old student cultists? You are supporting rubbish. So because one student cried all students should be set back by two years even intelligent ones? So you can start Civil Service work and Skill Acquisition by 16 but not University Education? People are daft in this country. Very backward too. |

Digmygold:Why are you pained? 😭 16 year old is not mentally ready for the rigor of a public university. I stand by my statement! |
