Planer would’ve made a difference in their attack and dude might probably get a goal yesterday
I don't think so and that is because the dent in their lineup was too wide. Their back four would limit Palmer's contribution attack-wise

Odegaard was just casually playing through passes. I don't think any player has played more through pass than him this season in the EPL

Before that Porto game, commentator gave hint about the injury. Also remember the game he was subbed off and he looked like he wan cry? Many speculations on which kind of injury. But ankle/calf related it seems. MA of all people should know getting a replacement is a top priority henceforth. See his numbers with this problem. How much more if he was fullllllyyy fit. Who be Cold Palmer sef? Na Frozen Saka we for get. The North Wall GOT kind.
I would be shocked if MA doesn't get Saka deputy next season. Like I'll be really shocked.

I hate to see Saka like this, it's really disheartening. Imagine even Chelsea fans dey compare Palmer to Saka.

For 3-4 consecutive years on this thread, we ask this same question about Saka’s form around December and the end of the season. It should be obvious after this long that we know the guy is burned out and has nothing left in the tank.
It's tiring to be honest.
This is the first time in 4yrs I've been wailing over Saka CONSISTENTLY.

He needs to rest and properly heal. Man is too good to be playing like this.

Arteta needs to help him abeg

Most through pass
Most big chances created
Most open play chances
Most key pass

Na why I just shake my head last week when I saw a picture daveP posted here claiming that Odegaard is known for his out of possession work and that it's a bad thing. It even went further to say he's like our Bernardo Silva and we need our own Kdb

When I read thing, the thing pain me I no go lie. Not only from that stupid poster who could even think of such nonsense but also for DaveP for even acknowledging the poster and bringing it here— it's insulting to Odegaard tbh. Na why e dey always good to watch ball cos some people(like that poster) are always pessimist; they always hammer on the negatives. To them the sun is made to just cast shadows.

I'm just in Awe of Odegaard cos he's just the perfect modern Midfielder and leader.

I hope he can move centrally sometimes when he’s not productive on the wings, cause dude is productive playing centrally for the few times he played there
The fact is i see no reason for him to be close to Saka going forward. It hampers both productivity overall. Sometimes i wish another person is playing the top presser role so Odegaard can be giving dangerous Ozil-ic passes from deep. Infact Odegaard is one reason why i am forever going to trumpet our need for a lethal 9. The left to right wing passes dey taya person. See how he gave assist from deep and Kai scored it, out muscling two shirts. If Odegaard does that 10 times with a better striker, 8 go dey net. E sure me.

Odegaard is tooo productive to be doing Top Presser imo. Near 18 or from deep, guy's vision for any goal threat is elite. Next season sha. Top performer from him yesternight

Na question i use the tweet ask na😂😂
Rem I've always said that if that is going to be his duty, then another creator will be needed.

If.

I don't like that he's super saddled with the pressing. I've said that last season and i did again now. So i wasn't affirming. I was asking what you guys think cos i didn't agree totally with him.

The line is thin cos it is between 50 and 95% utility

I've always wanted the top utility and i wouldn't change mouth from that.

Yesterday's game was really a game of boys Vs Men. It would have easily have ended 10-0 if we were that ruthless in first half the way we are in the second.

It's also a game of two "Havertz". First half Havertz was the worst I've ever watched from him as a CF (even in his Chelsea days). He was so poor that I was literally screaming my lungs out.
MA must have told him something heading into the second half cos at least his decision making was better. And that goal, o my, I would never have ever imagined he would score that type of goal. Kudos to him and shame on Cucurella.

I've never enjoyed a game as good as ystdy all thanks to Partey. My goodness, so this is what Man pikin dey miss since : Partey—Rice combo. Chaiii!!!
Abeg, even if na to sign Partey younger brother, make we go look for am. We deserve to watch Partey and Rice together, I don't care if it's not a Thomas. Can't believe when we have a perfect Midfield partner for him that when he's leaving. I'm sure even Odegaard would be counting his(Partey) days cos na Odegaard deh really benefit from am well.
Hopefully he starts against Tottenham..

The loss to Aston Villa is really bad. We have the goal difference, have the confidence and looks like we can go all the way yet the league is not even in our hands. They say anyone who wins the league rightly deserves it cos the table don't lie but there's a feeling that if man city goes on to win it, then the table is truly lying especially if we continue with this our form. We deserve to win this league this season (as long as this form continues) and I just hope that the god of soccer looks our way cos we truly deserve it.

Tottenham next. They're fully rested for 10 days and would be relishing the prospect of denting our title challenge. A win is a must for us and hopefully we get it.

And Martinelli... Two glorious chances missed. Anyways Trossard have already taken his spot.

Ice cold Trossard!!!!

As a modern footballer, I think we need to press for the structure to be effective and he's perfect for that. I would be worried if he's not creative but he is.
We always wanted that extra from players and now they Odegaard is giving us both at premium we're complaining. Or do we want an Ozil that only comes alive when he's in the final 3rd. I'll take my Odegaard 10x.

I'm not against adding another attacking top class Midfielder but Odegaard is Our Kdb. There's no attack that doesn't revolve around him that's why when he's stifled example against Bayern, we just deh move side to side

Havertz literally dragged Cucurella along with him for that his first goal grin. I never thought of Havertz as strong as that while under pressure. It is one thing for Odegaard to have measured the through pass correctly and it is an entirely different thing for Havertz to have held his own and not buckle under pressure while keeping his sight on goal. Everything about that goal was just so sweet.

Partey just makes what he does look so simple. Those vertical passes just gives our creative players more openings and opportunity to open up Chelsea's defense. That was how we were able to make Chelsea defense look so confused for the 5th goal scored by White. They just look on is disarray.

I feel if Partey had started that Villa match, we could've really opened them up and score before we conceded. Anyways, however the season ends I want us to beat Tottenham and United and I also want us to score up to 100 goals this season. We have scored 82 now after 34 games while we scored 88 in 38 matches last season.

Is that a rhetorical question? Lol. Don't make me laugh. Your manager knows this. You should too. Not someone that blows hot or cold. That won't stop me from saying he had an impressive 2nd half.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
We have a scored 104goals already this season. More than Man City with Haaland, and Liverpool with Nunes or whoever. So how would we convince the owners that we need a striker. What would be his job? Score goals?

I have stated here times without number (but you guys are not humble enough to give me my flowers ) that as far as Arteta's tactics is concerned, he does not need a traditional striker. That the reason is because whoever is playing front is only acting as a decoy. He is actually an AM. He prefers a multiple outlet for goals than a single one. That is why despite scoring 100+ goals, no one has scored a hat trick this season.

When I had that argument with Jodera about Gabriel Jesus not playing as a striker he thought I was silly. You know a striker from his movements and positioning. Kai Havertz is another perfect example of an AM playing as a striker, someone who can drop deep to overload the middle. These are Arteta's tactics this season and it has worked tremendously well for him.

See, any time Arteta goes for a striker which is possible just know that he wants to change tactics (or perhaps have an alternative tactics) to what we are currently playing. But as far as this tactics is concerned, we don't need a traditional goal scorer. We only need players who can drop deep from attacking position.

I don't know why DaveP has refused to see things that way. He keeps yawning for a big bully striker who will come and impose himself upfront. grin

Arteta will most likely sign a striker but the player will be in the mould of Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus, etc. Strikers who are not going to really be that tall imposing figure in the box, but rather an attacker who partake in the free-flowing attacking football we play and can also hit his shot well.

I suspect he's carrying an injury but because no trustworthy and reliable deputy, Arteta doesn't bench him.

We're not benching him to relegate him, it's just to recharge and heal better. A Saka that's fully on form can't be benched by anybody cos he's that good. But it's doing nobody any favours if he continues this way.

I mean, how can Saka doesn't have the confidence to beat a player again. He hardly press too

This is more than form, there's an underlying issue I'm suspecting

When we argued about GJ not scoring goals like a typical striker that scores 20+ goals a season. You said he wasn't clinical as a striker, I said he cannot be clinical because he gets involved with open play which means he is not always available for the final pass. Though you finally came to terms but have forgotten that you were actually against not having a striker.

Any of our defenders would've dispossesed Havertz with the ball in that first goal aswear. Maybe except for Zinchenko sha, but none of our starting defenders would allow Havertz journey that much to even attempt a shot.

On a second thought, I think Cucurella got a yellow card in the first half against Saka and didn't want to risk a foul lest he gets red carded.

The sweetest thing about the game was he didn't get red carded so Chelsea fans couldn't console themselves with the fact that they lost scandalously due to red card. They just had to chest the 5 goals and accept in in good faith. We had 17 shots(10 on target and 7 off target) to Chelsea's (1 on target and 4 off target). Imagine if they had gotten a red card grin grin

We just need that Kane type of striker that knows how to play this system well. Person that know how to interplay yet still be ruthless and know when to attack the box. The kind false 9s we're having now is just lacking that right instincts to attack the box.

We'll be deadly if we get such

I suspect he's carrying an injury but because no trustworthy and reliable deputy, Arteta doesn't bench him.

We're not benching him to relegate him, it's just to recharge and heal better. A Saka that's fully on form can't be benched by anybody cos he's that good. But it's doing nobody any favours if he continues this way.

I mean, how can Saka doesn't have the confidence to beat a player again. He hardly press too

This is more than form, there's an underlying issue I'm suspecting
Saka is carrying an injury and he will treat it after the season/Euros.
