theredaddy: They have not increased taxes. Tax is a % of revenue. Revenue is derived from Volume and Price. Price has gone up significantly. Volume has dropped. You get a nominal increase that does not mean growth. It is just the effect of price increase. If Naira gains value and prices drop, if volume remains as is today, the VAT will drop. It is just the price effect you are seeing. 1 Like |

Daystar7:I shudder at how you write a lot of nonsense confidently! You're clueless yet you are the most active! So high income earners don't pay higher taxes in Nigeria (but only in UK US...)? VAT is not related to price of goods?what is VAT then? So what is inflation? Was tax rate (either VAT or other ones) increased in Nigeria? So US, UK, Canada that recently experienced high inflation slashed their VAT equivalent because there's inflation? Your comrades also writing balderdash! Like supporters, like candidate! Empty! |

haybhi1:I asked a question what tangible thing did Tinubu do as a governor you da give me link Because I am pretty sure Lagos was even the capital of Nigeria . A capital of a country most times is been invested heavily onand that is why we have many tribes and population present in Lagos. Tinubu did what Is it the tax or toll gate or what exactly And if you are a graduate, How can you support someone that didn't really attend a secondary school? Someone that has numerous controversies on his Education? |

Mr Tola is a farmer. At the end of the season he harvested 100 tubers of Yam. He called his children and said I will give you first right of refusal to buy at N1000 each. They were happy. Mr Tola was happy also because he made some profits. Win-Win. Next season he harvested same 100 tubers of Yam. He told them that inflation (as a result of devaluation) affected the inputs he used. He raised the price to N2000 per tuber of yam. 3 of his 10 children could not afford and went on to starve. The other 7 bought less yams. At the end of first season he made N100,000. (100x1000). At the end of the second season he sold 60 tubers to those who could afford and made N120,000 (60x2000). 40 tubers were left to rot away. Should Mr Tola be throwing a party that he made more money while some of his children are starving? |

haybhi1: How would you ever compare the development of Lagos with that of Anambra state. I have lived in Lagos far longer than you and I know Lagos completely. I attended all my schools in different parts of Lagos, including Lagos Island. There has never been a time that the development of the two states became at par. You must first ask in history about Lagos and its development. Again in history, the evolution of Lagos as a state and how far it has gone. Lagos must be compared the Johannesburg and then you can ask if it has been properly developed when compared which such big cities. Why not compare Anambra state with Bauchi, Borno, Ondo, Plateau and Oyo states? These states were created in 1976. Rivers state was created in 1967, yet Anambra state is far ahead in terms of development, even with the lesser IGR. Lagos was created as a state in 1967. Before then, it had been well developed with good infrastructures like roads, electricity, railway, etc. Lagos was the seat of political power, such that aside from that it was the seat of national commerce. Anambra became a state in 1976, with the capital in Awka and a far less budget than that of Lagos. Development was hampered by the same military leaders then who thought it proper to embezzle the state’s resources. Awka as a capital was a glorified village until the coming of Obi. Lagos as of the 1950s had very solid transport network, with the likes of Marcopolo buses running side by side with LMTS (Lagos municipal transport company). Tinubu was handed a thriving state by Buba Marwa. All he needed to do was to improve on what he met. There are too many images of Lagos before Tinubu and after Tinubu. Lekki area was already developing after Raji Rasaki destroyed Maroko and attached it as Victoria Island annex. Have you asked for images of Awka before and after Obi? APC started the talk of true federalism. With the vast sums of gas in Anambra and Imo state, if allowed to thrive by thieving politicians, Anambra state would be better positioned. If you take your time to remove your bias, then you can see all the achievements of Obi within the given space of time. By the way Anambra state does not start and end in Awka. It’s just like saying Lagos state starts and ends in Ikeja, the capital. 2 Likes 1 Share |

He did same in Lagos! Trademarks: Inflation, Taxes & Double Taxes, high custom duties, High cost of living...all at the expense of the masses. U go dey hear money, revenue, income, but no true reflection of same on the people's standard of living! The more you look, the less you see! Nigerians kinda understand apc's propaganda. Nigeria under Tinubu is like those banks that were declaring billions of Naira as PAT until CBN under Soludo asked them to Recapitalise to common ₦25Bn. I boy, come see real wahala! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Intelligent and hard working leaders generate revenue and use it for development even if some of them a filtered away. Lagos can do what they are doing because they generate heavy revenue. 1 Like |

Buccalcavity2: Keep projecting... I didn't at any point say Nigerian don't have high tax brackets, increase in vat is not relative to increase in price, that's what I said. You don't increase tax because of inflation or increase in price of goods and service. Common economics u dey speak plenty grammar. |

Cantonese:Guys stop making excuses for failure! If it was by state creation period. Osun will be happy to always under perform Katsina in IGR! Lagos growth is measurable and there are other miracles around us (maybe not profound enough to excite some of us but still progress) I lived in Lagos during BAT and Anambra during PO. difference is clear! 6m turning to 14b monthly is not from wishful thinking nor from predecessor. Ogun,Kaduna... did same right before us. But for Soludo, what will you call Anambra development plan when our brother left? Which Awka became beautified during PO? What project was giving citizens hope to increase economic fortune of the state (GDP or IGR) when PO was there. Like LCC Lekki road in Lagos, Eko Atlantic city, free trade zone... |

Buccalcavity2: You make me laugh bro. But you are giving excuses to drive home your point. Have I made the wrong statistics or comparison? The point remains that there is no basis for comparing the two states, seeing that Lagos had the better advantages in terms of evolution and finance. You think Lagos is termed the "most populous city" for nothing? With the likes of Aregbesola and Fayemi, why have those states not fared like Lagos State? Why are Sokoto, Bauchi and Borno, still suffering large scale underdevelopment? Abuja became the administrative capital in 1991. It was carefully planned and developed. Why has it become such a developed city in such a short time, looking more beautiful than Kano and Rivers State? 1 Like |
