I agree with the paucity of funds, however that is where modifications can come in,the hilxes can still be bought and the ones going into enemy territory modified, like a said safety of ground troops obviously takes the back seat in your own mode of operations.....why waste tax payers money when the lives of troops trained with tax payers funds are cut short due to avoidable mistakes and also demoralizing troops plus making some family and friends of gallant troops miserable.

Pls what way and formation can a light skinned hilux be used in mined enemy territory...i love to learn
Did u miss.the part where he said
"It is the way and formation it is used hat matters"
So why does the question of mined enemy territory comes in.

Aside.. it could still be used in mined areas, provided it is used in conjunction with mine clearing Vehicles etc... at any rate, the way and manner a platform is used determines it safety.

Comparing plane (A 10 WARTHOG)that costs FIFTEEN THOUSAND (15,000) of Uncle Sam's dollars(TWENTY POINT NINE MILLION NAIRA) per hour to operate with one(SUPER TUCANO) that costs ONE THOUSAND,FIVE HUNDRED dollars(TWO MILLION,NINETY ONE THOUSAND NAIRA) per hour to operate in todays Nigeria?

Imagine what it would cost the Nigerian Air Force to rack up just 2,000 flight hours on a Warthog...(whispers 41.9 BILLION NAIRA(30 MILLION DOLLARS).
The operational costs alone should be enough to dead this talk.
I pointed Operational cost to our Friend two pages back, he didn't get the memo...
What he should have done was make a comparison btw the two and he will notice theA10 doesn't compare in use to the A-29
. Also, how does the Nigerian Government even justify they maintenance cost of the A10 to the masses,
Even of the US were to gift em out, most likely they will only fly on independence day.

Even that independence day flying sef will be too expensive....The cost of rehearsals alone will be something else.

For context, Six planes flying a minimum 3 hours per day will hit 90 hours combined flight time in 5 days. That's a WHOOPING 1,350,000 dollars or 1.88 BILLION NAIRA minimum spent on rehearsals for the independence day air show for ONLY THE A 10.

Fact is, NIGERIA CAN'T AFFORD THIS AIRCRAFT.

After Kenyan security agencies sealed loopholes through enhanced counter terrorism operations,Alshabaab has in the recent past resorted to conducting attacks using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) hidden in donkey carts.

Oh well its slightly below the running cost of a F16 However the F-16 is way more pricey to acquire than the Warthog
The A10 is not a fighter jet. It was designed after the cold war began to dwindle and the attention of America started to shift to the ME allies. Israel was a young nation fresh from the six-day war and Jordan had just fought the PLO.

The A10 was designed for the ME where countries had very large armies with little air power. It is/was literally an industrial scale meat pulverizer for sanitizing the battlefield.

Now America is realigning its military towards Iran, China, Russia and NK. Air defence will now pose serious threat to future conventional CAS. On the terror front, Al qaeda is practically non-existent now and ISIS have been contained. Simply put, There likely will no longer exist large scale anti-terror missions which the A10 will be needed. Also America has outsourced most of counter terrorism to those who are more affected. A29 is simply a better fit both in cost and scale.

This is a classic example of been penny wise and pound foolish, all things been equal it is easier for a Tucano to be downed by enemy fire than a warthog,if for example one Tucano is brought down by enemy fire we would have lost a platform totally plus maybe a seasoned pilot, which one would be costlier, basically cost is a priority to you over the safety of troops and Nigerians at large,2000 flight hours would be basically 83 days of non stop flights haba even many commercial jets havent seen that much flight hours not to talk of a CAS jet, common dont be ridiculous its not a danfo my brother.

Well, from the way you concluded that the 2000 flight hours mentioned is to be done by ON PLANE , there's NO CHANCE of engaging you in any meaningful conversation.

My joy is that it's not people like you that make acquisition decisions for ANY arm of our armed forces.

You wrote 2000 flight hours with your hand and im trying to tell you it will take light years for a CAS platform to reach that since its not a commercial flight.....how hard is that for you to understand.

My greater joy is that shylocks like you who have zero commitment to the occupational welfare and safety of troops and prioritize cost are unmasked for who they really are.

(CNN) The US Air Force has decided to extend the service life of its F-16 fighter jet from 8,000 to 12,000 flight hours, a move that will keep the multi-role combat aircraft in the skies beyond 2040 and help fill the service’s short-term need for more aircraft.

This Aircraft was formerly used by NEMA as an Air Ambulance before it was transferred to the Nigerian Air Force.

Oh, sure, because of the terrain let’s choose a gumbo ots over a combat boot even though it has worse traction, does not fit well which will obviously lead to feet problem, less breathable also. Ignore the obvious that combat boot are made for all terrain even wet jungles and can be waterproof to.

Rational thinking there buddy
