Joshua Dean, a former Spirit AeroSystems employee who alleged he was fired in retaliation for flagging lax standards at the company’s Wichita, Kansas, manufacturing plant, died on Tuesday after a sudden illness, his aunts and sister said in posts on social media.

Dean’s lawyer Brian Knowles said his client’s death was a “loss to the aviation community and the flying public”.

“He possessed tremendous courage to stand up for what he felt was true and right and raised quality and safety issues. Aviation companies should encourage and incentivise those that do raise these concerns. Otherwise, safety and quality are truly not these companies’ top priorities,” Knowles told Al Jazeera.

Spirit AeroSystems said the company’s thoughts were with his family.

“This sudden loss is stunning news here at Spirit and for his loved ones,” a spokesperson told Al Jazeera.

Dean’s mother wrote in a Facebook post last month that her son was “fighting for his life” after contracting pneumonia and suffering a stroke following an MRSA infection.

The State Department said that it was “inspired by the Kremlin,” and that the Georgian authorities want to use it to “silence critical voices and destroy Georgia’s active civil society.”

“This law and the anti-Western rhetoric of the Georgian Dream have put Georgia on a dangerous trajectory. The statements and actions of the Georgian government are incompatible with the democratic values that underpin membership in the EU and NATO, and thereby jeopardize Georgia’s path to Euro-Atlantic integration,” it says in the message.

The State Department says the bill could undermine relations between Georgia and the United States.

Many countries, particularly the US, UK, and EU states, use NGOs as a front for spying, influencing government policy, and funding politicians, elections, protests and uprisings.

So, Georgia wants to pass a law that will require any NGO that receives 20% of its funding from any entity outside of Georgia, to register as an organisation working on behalf of a foreign government.

Those protesters (who are funded by those same NGOs) are then protesting against the Georgian government signing such bill.
