Anyone that understands how the economy works will know that constant palliative and increased minimum wage is a bad way to help the economy -especially one like Nigeria's(in the long-run). Albeit that doesn't mean it's not useful in the short-run.

To begin, palliative is meant to ease the effect of a negative shock in the economy temporarily as government forge a long term plan to ease the shock or pressure on the people, but when has palliative ever been equitably distributed -those who need it the most are the least to get. We may even consider the additional fact that constant government interference leads to lazy masses -there's a popular adage that goes do not give me fish but instead teach me how to catch fish, a better approach would be if instead government employed more people through capital projects.

Secondly, Increasing minimum wage has an inflationary effect, the increased minimum wage is mostly by the government and some big organizations, an increased in minimum wage without a corresponding value brings about inflation. The market men/women in a bid to get their own share will increased market prices, if you still have children in school, the school administrator will increased the school fees of your children in order to meet up with increased salary demand and other logistics demand prices that have risen, if you are still a tenant, your landlord will increase the house rent to also get his own share of the increased minimum wage and it goes on like that like that, at the end of the day minimum wage will even make you worse off than making you better off.
Fantastic 😍

You have said it all

I just love economics.

There is no free food anywhere, someone somewhere must pay for it.

Someone wakes up and think sharing free food and peanut is the solution to economic problem, wasters in power.

When we argued against wasting our resources they will call us names. After using propaganda to proceed, after wasting our scarce resources they will sneak back like unrepentant prodigal son and pretend they were not warned. Let's continue with another wastage in costal Road project, we will be back in 4 years.

Who has entered Kano - Maradi rail project of Buhari?

A country that is not officially at war engaging palliative measures to deal with real economic issues is a joke.

Massive farming will bring about massive
harvests 7 months from now & enhanced
the good security status.

Then of course, security has to be taken
into consideration In volatile areas of the
country, where Fulani bandits have
prevented farmers from farming❗️❗️❗️

This is the way forward

In my area alone, if I tell you the hectares of Land that farmers cannot cultivate because of the fear of Fulanis destroying them eeh. this issue needs urgent attention if the Government is taking food security seriously.

I have always been against all these food and other palliative measures. They only lead to worse inflation.
Even here in the US, the same thing happened.
When Joe and Trump gave away money for free yanfun yanfu during and after Covid, it only increased inflation in the food and housing sectors.
The house that people used to buy in the Atlanta metro for 300k is now going for 500 to 600k.
Most can't even afford these houses anymore and rent has gone through the roof. Houses that I used to rent out for 1k are now going for as high as 1700 to 2k in neighborhoods that I cannot live in.

It's always a better idea to plow such money into capital projects such as the Lagos Calabar road. That will have a trickle-down effect because people will be employed to build such projects, materials will be bought locally, and businesses in that area will see an increase in sales hence will have to hire more people to manage the increase in business. This will lead to a positive effect on the economy in the long run.
But politicians like to give quick and short-term good feelings to their constituents which they will suffer for in the long run.

Na only Prophet Odumeje remain to be blamed by this Govt.
lol. even odumeje was boasting that dollar went up initially because he travelled out of the country, but now that he is back to the country that he will use all his power to bring the dollar down so that the naira can appreciate.
either he was mocking the government or he really meant what he said, i can't tell .
this gbajue government can blame everything but themselves .

The immediate subsidy removal is the cause of all these. But government will turn a blind eye until they eventually turn blind! Make dem dey play

I have actually wondered if government buying foodstuff as palliative is not actually affecting things...

It would've been better if they were released from let's say a strategic food reserve....

I think it's high time state government should be responsible for silos and food reservoirs for their states
