Otti appoints ex-COAS, Ihejirika as state security advisory council chairman

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the constitution of a security advisory council and security trust fund for the state.

Consequently, Governor Otti has appointed the former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Onyeabo Ihejirika (Rtd) as the Chairman of the council while a retired DIG of Police, Uche Ivy Okoronkwo is to serve as the Vice Chairman of the council.

Members of the council include Mr. Ray Nkemdirim, a security expert, Maj. Gen. Abel Obi Umahi, rtd, AVM Emmanuel Chukwu, rtd

Other members are Maj Gen. J.O. Nwaogbo, rtd and Navy Cmdr Macdonald Ubah, rtd, who will serve as the secretary of the security council.

In the security trust fund, Governor Otti appointed Stanley Obiamarije as the Chairman while other members are Owelle Greg Okafor, Mrs Ngozi Ekeoma, Johnson Chukwu, Mrs Josephine Nweze, Mrs Nkechi Obi and Mr Bank-Anthony Okoroafor.

A statement signed by Kazie Uko, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on Friday, said the appointments are with immediate effect.

This ex COAS was really dreaded by Boko Haram and Fulani militia to the point that Elrufai threatened him after he dealt with Fulanis who killed natives in Barkin Ladi Plateau State by saying "anybody who kills a Fulani incurs a debt that will be repaid by generations'.
Even Buhari shouted then that attack on Boko Haram was attack against the North because of General Ihejirika who was giving it to them wotoporously.

Obama tried to sabotage his efforts because the then US Govt wanted GEJ Govt to fail and banned weapons sales to Nigeria but Ihejirika was not deterred. he went to the black market and bought weapons from Israeli merchants, South Africa and Russia.

The next thing was northern leaders threatening not to vote for GEJ if he did not sack Ihejirika or tries to extend his tenure and GEJ naively fell for their threat and did their bidding and they still didn't vote for him.
Otti appointing this man to be in charge of security in Abia is a good move based on his antecedents and experience. Fulani herdsmen bandits will think twice before approaching Abia state when they remember his exploits, he doesn't believe in Repentant terrorists or bandits
