The nation has been agog with news of the ongoing face-off between the EFCC and the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the others over the (EFCC)’s attempt to arrest Bello in connection with alleged official corruption involving the sum of 80.2 billion naira which he allegedly misappropriated while in office for eight years as Kogi State Governor.

3. Interference with Legal Proceedings: Judges do not live on the island, Venus, Moon, Neptune or Mars. They live on earth and interact with members of the society. Media attention can influence judges, potentially leading to unfair trials. It can be difficult for a defendant to receive a fair trial when public opinion has been heavily influenced against him by biased media coverage. In the case of Rajendra Jawanmal Gandhi v. State of Maharashtra, (1997) 8 SCC 386, the Supreme Court of India noted that a trial by press, electronic media, or public agitation is the exact opposite of the rule of law. It held further that Judges should protect themselves from such pressure and scrupulously adhere to the rule of law since failure to do so could result in a miscarriage of justice. Parties are entitled by the Constitution to a fair trial in a court of law by an unbiased tribunal that is not swayed by popular culture or media coverage.https://citizen-rapporteur.netlify.app/news/yahaya-bello-victim-or-aggressor-by-prof.-mike-ozhekome-san |

We thought the leadership problem Nigeria suffers is as a result of the fact that most of our leaders are old, medieval and incapacitated. We sought to have younger people with brighter, innovative and contemporaneous ideas. Yahaya Bello was barely 40 when he took over the affairs of Kogi state, ever since then, all he did was plunder the masses of his state while he lived in opulence. Young people are wicked and have an unhealthy desperation to amass wealth even at the expense of their lives. The people of Kogi state who were heartlessly robbed are the victims. Yahaya theifllo is the devious aggressor here. |

He's all of the above He brought his current travails upon himself because he allowed absolute power to corrupt him absolutely While completely forgetting that power is actually transient |

AnonPoet:This is so disturbing. That a SAN will come out to defend a man who has used the judiciary to continue to escape justice. Donald Trump is on trial for several criminal offence in the US, you can never hear that a judge will give orders that he should not be arrested or investigated. A court is saying that Bello should be charged, in a criminal case, can u charge and try a man in absentia. The same Ibori that the judiciary in Nigeria couldn’t convict met his Waterloo in the UK We are just backward in this continent |

YEYE BELLO OLE. THIEF THIEF THIEF WHO PAID CHILDREN 'S SCHOOL FEES UPFRONT, EVEN THE UNBORN ONES. SOMEONE WHO MASTERMINDED THE KILLINGS OF SO MANY INNOCENT SOULS IS AFTAID OF JUST COMMON EFCC DRILLING. THANK GOD THIS IS HAPPENING NOW THAT HIS SUCCESSOR 'S CASE IS AT THE TRIBUNAL WHICH HE CANNOT COME OUT FROM HIS HIDDEN TO INFLUENCE THE JUDGES. HE RULED KOGI STATE FOR 8YRS AND STILL HAND OVER TO HIS COUSIN FROM THE SAME LGA. GOD WILL SURELY PUMISH HIM AND HIS GENERATION YET UNBORN. HOW FAR WITH HIS DEPUTY EDWARD ONOJA WHO SUPPORTED HIM TO THE KILLINGS IN HIS KOGI EAST SENATORIAL ZONE. SAME BELLO SHOWED HIM SHEGE BANZA PROMAX |

It's only in Nigeria you will steal unreasonable amount of money in broad daylight and you will still be feeling good about yourself and be justifying your actions with boldness and you will even see some fools supporting what you did shamelessly even the very people who are victims of your greed.nigeria matter be like swear aka edi |

This thing is very simple...an ongoing investigation with alleged offences without empirical evidences can't be concluded. However, court orders must be obeyed in whatever situation. Its a pity that naija's justice system is so flawed that rich criminals can get away with just any crime. |

Adamux:My brother I tired. Just as you rightly said. Once he pick up.the case. All the people that against the fed govt will be supporting the Ozokeme. Nigerians youth are the problem of this country. Imagine Bello becoming governor at the age of 40 or thereabouts and see what he has turned Kogi into. So what do we need the youth to govern. Better Edu at 36 as a minister. Look at what she did. Look at the youth protecting Bello on the day the efcc wanted to arrest him. Now I believe Buhari when he said Nigerian youth are Lazy . |

Very useless lawyer. They connived with rogue judges and help criminal evade justice. Wasn't ibori acquitted in Nigeria but later convicted in UK? Courts in Nigeria are market place. They sell justice to highest bidder. All the cases he referenced no mean shit. We all know brown envelope was exchange for their acquittal. Wasn't not Nigeria that a sitting senator boasts that his wife who's a judge had helped his friends in elections tribunal to retain their seats? |
