You don't need time to use your brain bro. An existing road is in bad shape and economy in bad shape but FG is wasting money to build a road that may take 15years and can be abaddoned in the future.

God gave us brain to think. Never take advice from Nigeria criminal politicians. They only care about your sentiment.

The people opposing the project are doing what they have to do. They aren’t call opposition for nothing. They should know however that the current president isn’t a gentleman, he will do what he wants to do.

It’s political for some people, if Nigeria becomes better, if people get some semblance of hope, how will they campaign in 2027? Nigeria is getting better but let’s remove the man who is making it better?

The president and his team will take the praise or fall for this government performance, they have the liberty to decide what is priority and what isn’t. If you want to be a decider, win an election.

Most people speaking out in support of such waste at a time when the Country is grappling with it highest debt and living crisis are poorly informed.

If you don't understand economics properly, opportunity cost, environmental impact, cost-benefit analysis, then there is no point deceiving the public on a subject you don't know. Ben Bruce should be asked to keep quiet and listen to the experts.

Enough of this bickering about the 700km coastal highway since the road have been awarded and project in top gear I advise every Nigeria to pipe low and watch how it will end.

This response is what most us with positive mind thinks, the road if delayed with cost more as more infrastructs would be develop and when they are been pulldown higher compensation.

The road will open roads to developments in those areas and frontiers for tourism.

Tis only haters of Nigeria that oppose development to an area that lay golden eggs

The common sense crooner is now senseless.

We are saying that the existing roads leading from Cross River State to Lagos State and the numerous bad roads across the country should be fixed.
The coastal highway shouldn't be a problem for now.

People are dying on these bad roads yet the govt priority is a coastal highway that we all know wouldn't be completed in 20yrs to come.

How is that a bad idea if I may ask Ben?

In a bid to support criminality they start sounding like uneducated people.

If this coastal highway is not all about criminality, they should equally award instant repairs for all the bad roads in the country and release a whooping 1 trillion naira to start up immediate work on them.

Most of you are ignorant illiterates. Dave Umahi has stated many times that all federal govt roads are being repaired. The problem is we do t have the money to repair all the roads quickly so work is slow. He stated categorically there are just under 3000 awarded road contract and there is none where work is not on going.

Now a private company comes with a proposal to build a new transformational road with their own money. The road will cost $15b, the government will put down $1b, they will finance the rest and recoup their money from tolls. Mind you the entire budget for Nigeria is just under $30b. Should the govt say no?

Is the $15b for Lagos Calabar govt money? No!

Is they don’t build the Lagos Calabar road will the $15b go towards existing roads? No!

Are they repairing existing roads? Yes
But at a slow pace because we have no money!

If they don’t construct Lagos Calabar will it make repairs on existing roads faster? No!

Know the facts before you comment.
Existing roads are being repaired but govt has no money so it is slow.
The money for Lagos Calabar is not govt money and if you cancel the project the money will not go to existing g roads because it is not govt money.

Same people would criticize the government for not constructing any new roads.

Government should increase minimum wage, bring back subsidy on petroleum products, let's all feed fat and watch more Instagram and TikTok. That's what you want right? SMH

Who are the experts he should listen to?
You or peter obi, or both of you?

Pls once the project is completed, you and your fellow experts should not use the road.

Coastal road is good but not a priority for now

Only a mumu will see his children hungry and naked then go out to buy smart Tv because his neighbor has the same, why don’t you first feed and cloth them before frivolities

The Ilorin to Ibadan road remains uncompleted to date. Construction began in 2001, and 23 years later, it is still unfinished. Furthermore, the completed sections require rehabilitation. This people just want to seal nothing more! We don't want any new things from APC they just just give us back the Nigeria the way it was in 2015.

The minister of works already states that the lagos-calabar project will not stop the repair and rehabilitation of other existing federal roads.

You guys are bent on crying unnecessarily.

The project has started already. No amount of wailing and criticism can stop it.
If this project was sited in the north, none of you will criticize it for any reason because the north are your slave masters.

But it was ok to build 2nd Niger bridge when there was an existing road? Why were all existing roads not fixed before 2nd Niger bridge? Ibadan to ilorin, Lagos to Ibadan (amongst many) were both started before the bridge and are not yet completed to date.
Yet it was constructed in a tenure when debt service ratio was over 100% @ a time!
Where was this argument then?
I honestly don't understand the hullabaloo about the coastal way. I'm indifferent coz nobody is arguing with data,; just emotions.
