According to historical and scholarly research, James, the brother of Jesus, did not believe in Jesus as God in a literal sense. Instead, James is understood to have believed in Jesus as the Davidic Messiah, a significant figure in Jewish prophecy and tradition.

James' belief in Jesus as the Davidic Messiah meant that he saw Jesus as the promised deliverer or anointed one (Messiah) prophesied in the Hebrew Bible. This belief was rooted in Jewish expectations of a messianic figure who would restore the kingdom of David and fulfill God's promises to the Jewish people.

While James held Jesus in high regard and believed in his messianic role, there is no historical evidence to indicate that James viewed Jesus as a divine being or as God incarnate. James' focus was more on Jesus' role as the Messiah within the Jewish context rather than on his divinity.

In contrast to later Christian beliefs that developed around the divinity of Jesus, James' understanding of Jesus was likely more in line with Jewish messianic expectations of his time. This distinction highlights the diversity of beliefs and interpretations within the early Christian community, with James representing a perspective that emphasized Jesus' messianic identity rather than his divine nature.

According to modern research, James the brother of Jesus was indeed recognized as a prominent figure in the early Christian community. He was the first leader of the Jerusalem Church and played a significant role in the development of early Christianity. It is believed that James was elected by the chief apostles of Jesus, including Peter, John, and Philip, to be the head of the church in Jerusalem.

James was known for his devout observance of Jewish law and his attachment to the temple in Jerusalem. He was regarded as a rigorous and observant Jew who followed the law. This is in contrast to Paul, who taught in Ephesians 2:15 that the law had been abolished. James' adherence to Jewish customs and practices made him influential among the Jewish community.

While James believed in Jesus as the Davidic Messiah, it is important to note that he was also considered a Christian. He played a crucial role in shaping the early Christian movement and was recognized as a leader among the disciples of Jesus.

Regarding the earliest faith of the disciples of Jesus, it is believed that their faith initially centered around Jesus as the Messiah and the fulfillment of Jewish prophecies. Over time, as the early Christian community grew and developed, their understanding of Jesus' teachings and his role expanded.

Please note that the information provided is based on historical research and scholarly interpretations.

None of Jesus' disciples believe he is God!

He sent this message to his disciples:

“Stop clinging to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.’” John 20:17

So from Jesus' point of view his disciples are his BROTHERS (not his worshipers) God never called His worshipers (brothers) and he concluded by saying his father is their father and his God is their God!

But you can call me a cult member now because i will never accept that your Allah has anything to do with these things! wink

You should have asked this from the start. undecided

No evidence ties James, of whom Eusebius supposedly wrote, to the birth blood of Jesus Christ. Dig deep and you figure this out for yourself. The claims made by these men who are today referred to by Christians are their Church Fathers are almost all — over 99%— based on supposition, not fact. These men were of the group referred to as dogs — non-Israelites — by Jesus Christ, and He did warn His followers not to give that which is Holy to them. That many of the very same should then pretend to hold the keys to the very same Kingdom of God ought to raise flags of doubt, rather than cause belief. undecided

lol! You don't say. Couldn't care for the rest of the theological bs about ur Jesus and what not but the bold claim there. Asides for Eusebius, Josephus who lived during the time period way before James' death in 62CE and didnt even write theologically primarily but historically pointed out same thing. James' Jesus' brother. So wth?!🤨

You enjoy arguing just for the heck of it, don't you? You like to pick an argument where there really ought to exist none at all. grin

Josephus' mention of James brother of Jesus Christ who was killed does one thing and one thing only. It provides possible evidence for the claim made in Scripture regarding Jesus Christ having a brother called James.
53 When Jesus finished teaching with these stories, he left there.
54 He went to the town where he grew up. He taught the people in the synagogue, and they were amazed. They said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and this power to do miracles?
55 Isn’t he just the son of the carpenter we know? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
56 And don’t all his sisters still live here in town? How is he able to do these things?”
57 So they had a problem accepting him. - Matthew 13 vs 53 - 57
It in no way provides credibility to the claims made by Eusebius regarding James(brother of Jesus), at all. undecided

Of course you are a heretic.
Which of the disciples believed Jesus was an Angel like Jehovah witnesses believes?
In the Bible Elohim can be used for gods, human, Angel and God.
So your own claim that Jesus is an Angel is lesser than theirs that claim he is God!

Your problem is hypocrisy!

No one among JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES will tell you that Jesus is Archangel Michael until you're ready to study the Bible with us meaning it's a DEEP SECRET.
I remember back then as Muslim that the same happened in Islam when we were taught that Muhammed was the first creature Allah created but hid him until all other prophets has finished their mission then Muhammed will come to crown it all.
Of course it was a secret that Muslims don't discuss in public but only within scholars.

So Jesus being Archangel Michael is a secret not what we go about preaching publicly like the churches of Christendom does claiming people must believe that Jesus is God when he never taught so. smiley

The first creation of Allah is Adam! Any Muslim who goes against that fact has committed disbelief.
Adam, the father of mankind was the first man Allah created.

We recognize Angel Gabriel as the greatest of the Angels as he is the Angel of revelation!
We also recognize Angel Michael and others!
But Jesus is not an Angel!
Your comparison is faulty and illogical!

There's no secret in Islam o!
Everything is open!

John 16:25
"Though I have been speaking figuratively (paroimia), a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.

Why wasn't Jesus speaking in a normal and clear way all the time? Why did Jesus then go and say that he won't 'use this kind of language' according to the Bible?

Well, here we find out why...

Mark 4:10-12
When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12so that," 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'

So here we see that Jesus was deceiving certain people by speaking in parables so that they won't (and God forbid!) REPENT AND BE FORGIVEN!

The claims made by Eusebius, claims that came in over 200 years after Jerusalem was destroyed, regarding the particular beliefs of this person, James, are without reference— no source. The other commenter on this here thread claimed Eusebius' source for the material he published on this James character could have been Josephus, but we know from reading Josephus' works available to us today that that can't be true. undecided

Jesus doesn't need to fight! Moses, Joshua, Samson and other fought for Jehovah killing His enemies.
Confused religion!
How many times do i need to tell you that those fighting were securing the place where pure worship is established?
Jesus commanded his disciples to take pure worship to all other lands so practicers of pure worship could be found everywhere therefore where do you think practicers of pure worship should fight to protect today?
The inhabitants of your Mecca today remain so quiet and liberal because they don't want their business to end yet adherents of the same religion are fighting and killing themselves claiming they're defending their countries! smiley
AbuTwins:

Even Samson committed suicide with his enemies while having the holy spirit!
Sure! He was fighting to protect pure worship in Canaan.
AbuTwins:

Where did he claim such? Agbalagba oniro!
Thanks for confirming your prophet is not any comforter!

Elijah did not reincarnate in John!

Nobody told you Elijah reincarnated that's simple metaphorical speech.
People do call humans like themselves names like Parrot, Slug, Cat, Dog, Cheetah, and many more based on the characters involved these people aren't reincarnate of such creatures rather its their attitude that makes people liken them to other creatures. The same is what happens regarding Elijah and John the baptist.
You can see how reasonable and logical God's word is unlike your Arab book that's only designed to make you bow towards the black stone in Mecca alone without any benefit attached! smiley
