Everybody pays VAT when you purchase items especially from supermarkets and other outlets.

Impoverishing the citizens to make govt richer won't benefit the citizens and the economy. When the purchasing power is reduced it will slow down economic activities which will in turn hinder economic growth.

Tinubu is already using all these as a strategy for his re-election. He needs to generate bogus revenue figures he can use for campaigns then he also needs to put more money in the hands of governors to get their support across board. The only set of people he doesn't consider are the poor masses who struggle to feed their families.

On the positive side, Agbodorians are not exempted from these VAT and Tax Increases..

No Positive News from this country since this month of May..
You are wrong. Agbadorians don't pay any tax. They're exempted from all the taxes because it favours them and their families. shocked

In Nigeria, we're all on a long thing...

Just mention for these same people reduce their excessive allowances that makes no sense and you'll see them in action, spitting grammar here and there.

Awón oni yéyé..

Up till now, not a single visible move to massively reduce cost of governance.

Billions of Dollars are being spent on projects that have no long or short term benefits to the same people you intend to tax away.

Even if you want to practice Capitalism, why not create the environment that will enable it thrive??!

Massive and widespread poverty will never make investments and consumer-centered businesses thrive or survive.

No wonder many top companies and investors are fleeing, while the ones that should have been brought in are avoiding the nation like a plague.

we all know the answer to this question.

It pire wickedness and not being considerate

These same people in power and their supporters kept mute while the last administration squandered Billions of Dollars (borrowed funds) on PROJECTS that have not and will never yield economic returns or drive growth.

Now, these ones are in a rush to splurge more scarce resources on projects that will go the same way, while making the masses poorer with deceptive tax policies.

The implication of the proposed new sharing structure, according to him, is that the committee is recommending reducing the federal government’s share from 15 percent to 10 percent.

“We are proposing that the federal government’s portion should be reduced from 15 percent to 10 percent. States’ portion will be increased but they would share 90 percent with local governments,” he said.

He explained that the new sharing formula for VAT is in favour of the lower tier of government because it is a tax generated at the states level.
