Today they claim fathering Yoruba, tomorrow Igalla or Ijaw, next Igbo, Ikwerre or Opobo or Urhobos. They seem to be hopeless in determining who they are.

How can you be a father to communities that are one hundred percent more than you in population, with highly sophisticated different languages, culture, tradition and customs? There is a great sense in what you wrote, Bini people who is just 4 Local government will be claiming superiority over Yoruba with huge population and present in other countries like Benin Republic Cotonou, Togo , Brazil etc despite that some of them bear ancient Yoruba name like Balogun and some of their words are similar to Yorubas words, even Bini traditional ruler is also using the word for a king in Yoruba land as title.
A guy with surname Balogun from Benin in my place of work will claim he is not Yoruba but bearing strong Yoruba name, ask him the meaning of his name, he will just be saying nonsense , if you don't want to associate with Yoruba, why not change your name.
